Help! The thing was fine until my buddy tried his battery in my quad to see if it was shot or it was his bike (his wouldnt start-mine would-same battery) Anyway, Now it wont start with the start button (with my good battery)...only way to start it is by "jumping" it with a screwdriver on the solenoid or whatever that thing is right by the battery. Fires right up that way.

1. Is this part a solenoid or is this my starter motor relay?

2. What could be causing this problem

3. What is the part with the 2 blade style fuses in it called?

Thanks!
Obviously electrical is not my thing.......

the round thing i believe is the relay. the part with the fuses is a inline fuse, so nothing burns up. AT LEAST I THINK.

you need a solenoid, very simple, just had the same problem.. i just got a universal one from a local parts store for 20 bucks

Check your ground wire.(The negative black wire)

There was a loose wire but I fixed it (at least I think) It was one of the 2 red ones that go into the 2 fuse holder thing--It was loose and fell out-I cleaned it all up and put it back in there and not sure if thats the problem due to my lack of a tester.

These all seem like possiblilities....I know its not the ground

Starter button is a possibliity- I will take the handle control aprart this weekend.

If the solenoid is bad, would it still start if I jumped it with the screwdriver??????

It's your starte solenoid, I had the same problem last year and I need another one this year, I have to jump mine with a screwdriver right now also, their like 30 bucks at the local honda shop.

ok, took it out this weekend with my trusty screwdriver-the start button worked twice but randomly...not in a row. The lights will also not come on unless the motor is running......does this help narrow down the problem?

thanks!
