Need a good shop

Iam a f ing noob...big time. Do any of you experienced guys or gals recommend I do a Stage 1 cam w/ a high compression piston @ 11:1 as well as a port and polish myself? Or is it even worth while fo me to have a qualified shop do this for me? (Gains wise)
