what should i do.. i could w8 a month or so and buy a pc 4000 big bore from duncan and bolt it on or i can take my sock cylinder to fun bikes center let them bore to 440 put i nthe wiseco kit and be done. haveing a local shop do it would be cheaper and i no they r reliable but i dont no if its the best thing to do. i will begin mx soon and i ride glamis every thanksgiving. i ride long and hard hours. what would be the best thing to do? also what piston ratio should i go with... i need reliability baaad.

hey bud, im currently doing a 440 build myself. personally i'd save the huge $$$$ yer gonna spend at duncan and do it yourself. (but thats just me) i sent my cylinder to have the bore done and the sleeve set in and cost me around 120 out the door. guy also resurfaced the sides while he was there.

im doin a 11:1 wiseco and a stage 2 Hotcams.

while you are there do a heavy duty timing chain (or a crf450 chain from what im told) if yer gonna run it hard, look into the bigger head studs kit from GT thunder. im also doing the added oil cooler from perma-cool. id recommend it. i ride just south of glamis at the ogilby, gordon's, and buttercup side of the dunes so thats what im gearing up for.

dunno what you have planned but i'd also port the head if i were you. i did mine and was fairly simple.

I'd wait patiently for that PC4000 cylinder. The PC cyl. runs cooler than a stock bored out cyl. and comes with HD head studs, (Prevents losing head gaskets). As far as compression goes, 12:1 will give you more power, a little less reliable and will cost a fortune is gas. I'd stick with 11.5:1

i would go with a 416 or 426 to motorcross. It has more topend then a 440. I have run both. I wright know run a JE WB 440 kit it has a ton of bottom end for the woods.

wouldnt more bottom end tho make it easier to pull a taller gear tho making it easier to stay in one gear instead of shifting one more time? figures it would make for a better option.... dunno.
