Loudest 400ex pipes

Im just wondering, how loud in db's 400ex's pipes, full or slip on, with some sort of documentation as well, im lookin for a new pipe but i wanna stay around 104 db's and i have 3 pipes n mind but cant find db's of any of them, thanks for the help.

I am running a Full TC Shorty on mine, Its prety loud but i dont think its as loud as everyone says it is...IMO

I have a white bros e-series and it came with 6 discs in and there was a sticker on the box that said 96db and I bought it brand new.

man i hate to think awhiote bros pipe is soo loud to stay away from it, mos tppl like ballsy sounding quads, not panzy *** fairy sounding ones like stock.

do any of you know the db's of the named pipes you metioned? i am tryintg to keep the same deep loud sound i have now, but am in the market for a new model pipe.

The Sparks and TC shorty is pretty loud IMO.

I got a E_Series and run with no plate in the back, just the end cap open pipe, its louder than my friends yfz with Yoshi full

Your friends YFZ probably has the Quiet Core installed, either that or that makes no sense. My e-series was way quieter than my buddies YFZ with a HMF (equal to Yoshi, just it had no quiet core)...it's all louder on the 450's. My friend has a e-series on his Preddy, it's damn loud! Louder than my Sparks x6 big core even at WOT!

I have the Sparks pipe and it is super loud . I would say if you want something quiet just modify a stock pipe. I don't recall what the stock pipe looks like but if it has riveted on end cap then you can drill out the rivets and then remove the cap and just take a little length off of it. That will reduce the back pressure. I did that to my Yamaha R6 with great success. I have never tried to do that to a Quad pipe though. I am sure it will have the same effect but remember you may have to jet the carb.

I can't see the E-Series being that loud unless you are running no spark arrestor in it. If you not running a spark arrestor then it can be comparable to a HMF.

I just put an HMF on my wifes new bike and it has a nice deep throty sound to it and its loud but not to loud. and there a great quality pipe ive been running one on my 450r for 2 years now with no problems

I would throw my LRD full system in the mix as well. It is loud I got sound checked with just a slip on and it was rated @ 103db.

I have a 2000 EX and it came with the older model LRD full system and its pretty damn loud! Even on idle its louder than my cousins predator 500 w/ a hmf bill ballance full system!

there is no way it is 120 dB idle. thats as loud as a gun shot. but idk it might happen, not 120 but maybe 110 at the high end. the loudest i have hearsd was some guy i had jsut met. a DG fullexhaust. idk what it is called but it was sick. but he had everything doen to his quad. it was a yfz 2007.

All you that want a loud pipe are the reason, we have so many riding area getting closed.!!!! A loud doesn't always mean more horse power. I run a full styem of Big Gun. It has plenty power at a sound level of 100 db no quit core. With a quiet core around 98db.

I will add to your statment and I say this is also part of the reason why a large part of the off road community hates quad riders. Respect the land and the others who use it or it will be gone forever.

Most people could care less what your bike sounds like besides 12 year olds and the people that are trying to shut riding areas down. If your so worried about thinking your bike is a "fairy princess" then beat them while racing in TT or whatever to show them it dosent matter what your bike sounds like.

and i run a fmf pipe in tt and soon to be white bros r4, i wouldn't run a stock pipe in racing, you want all the extra power you can get.

it is 99 dec, and i believe the AMA changed it for the quads too. yoshi hasnt updated the rs-3 so it still reads in at 102(i believe...maybe it is less).


but any pipe you buy, new or used, is going to be 102 or under...and most brand new pipes with make the 99 limit

indeed.. Im very happy to sacrafice sound for more riding.. Since I put my stock exhaust back on.. most people dont even know im out riding.. its great..

Im starting to like the sound of the stocker alot more then my pipe.. Being loud is over rated.. :macho

loudest exhaust i ever heard on a quad would have to be big gun on a ds 650 with the packing blown out of it and sum how the core blew out too...but on a 400 i would say my hmf cut down 1/2" from the mounting tab...it was ridiculous and then the packing finally burnt up and it was even louder...so i bought a new one and didnt cut it and it is perfect for me...hetrick racing exhausts are really loud too btw

I just heard a YFZ with NMotion drag pipe on it, holy $#^% it is loud. But on the 400EX, It's the WB E-series with no core at all. Just the oval canister. My friend tried it to see how it ran..................runs like crap.

My E-series is rediculously loud seeing as how the threads in the end got stripped out so I can't run any of the plates or the spark arrestor. Also it doesn't help that it at least 6 years old and there's just about no packing left in it. I'm in desperate need of a new one because I've had complaints from people that live over a mile away.

Agreed, even though I still live in the country there are a few houses around and my track is small, so I can't "get on it" to hard, 4th maybe... I just don't want to piss people off... Now, when I was 13 and had my CR125 I wanted to piss the neighbors off...

Question(s) though: what are the DBs on a stock pipe and which pipe (or pipes) give better flow with out being too loud. I'd like to have a system that was a little bit more free flowing, but didn't sound all nasty LOUD! I'm sure someone is running something that they find acceptable... Any ideas guys?

i run the fmf power core 4 and its great. not nearly as loud as hmf sparks etc. it has great bottom mid power gains and looks decent. i packed mine real tight and it has a deep soujnd to it.. kind like a 15" speaker with 1000watts worth of bass to it. def under 95 db

hahaha i wish i was loud i like a nice high loud idle that gets quieter as ur pulling out nice and slow and when u mash the throttle it gets all loud and nasty =]

I love HMF, they are loud when idling and putting around then just smash the throttle and you taker off flying and the sound is great. I love the sound going from all calm on it to hittin it and just...BRAAAAAAAP!!! lol
