so i just put on some tag t2 bars and the hand brake lever only fits where the bar starts to bend down, so it's angled up. i was thinking about grinding down the 1 inch piece of metal that sticks out from the thumb throttle which would allow me to mount it closer. anyone ever run into this?

I have the same problem with my Fly's. The problem is the bars aren't wide enough to accomodate your controls. You can grind down that piece of metal sticking out to a point but keep in mind that its purpose is to allow clearance of the brake lever through its full travel. If you really want to fix it, just get some wider bars but for now I just deal with it :ermm:

I grinded about a 1/4 inch piece off my thumb throttle and the front brakes work fine still.

Good to know there is some room for compromise there, I will have to try that thanks!

I have Tag T2's CR Hi Bend and all my stuff fits fine...even with the powermadds. And now I am running a 2006 300EX Throttle housing instead of the gigantic 06 450R and I didn't even grind the spacer/peg off of it and still have plenty of room. If I wasn't at work I would post a pic.

Not to hijack the thread and get off subject but how did u make that 300ex thumb throttle work on the 06 with that stupid throttle closed switch on there?

pull the switch out and clip the wire off a ways back and twist or use a connector the 2 wires together.....and a away she goes....it is a much easier push on the throttle....I need to get the tokyo mods spring for in the carb and it is even better with it.....a buddy of mine has a YFZ with that spring and a Honda throttle and its really nice

So with that thumb and the tokyo mods spring does it decrease the thumb fatigue? I am looking for something to ease my thumb in 45min races.

i have ridden lonestars bike with just the different throttle and it is a lot better...i never really realized how stiff the throttle was until i rode his...even on days that i went from the 450r to my 400ex...

Yes it does...the Tokyo Mods spring makes it super nice....there is no effort whatsoever with it and the older throttle. I think the 06 Throttle is so hard to push because of the way the spring mechanism is in it...it has 2 levers to push instead of one so the spring is alot stiffer in it than the old ones.....and the smaller throttle looks better too.

Thanks for the info TOKYO MODS is local to me so i will be calling them for the spring and trying to locate a thumb throttle.
