sorry i forgot to add that i have a 400exthat is bored to a 406 with a HMF slip on and an aluminium airbox with no lid and a twin air air filter and my elevation is about 4000 ft in arizona so its kinda hot. any suggestions on jetting would be greatly appreciated

I think if it is a jetting issue it would blow black, orblueish smoke.
It kinda sounds like a head gasket. How is the oil.(clean).
Did u torque every thing down>?

yea brand new oil everything was torqued but its weird because it only does it when i do quick revs and when its warm there is absolutely no smoke on start up and after its warm if i turn it off for a couple of min and turn it back on it doesnt smoke so i am kinda stumped.

Did you replace the valve seals? you could be getting a little blowby on decel. Not a huge problem, just keep an eye on it . if it gets worse you will want to replace them.

leave it it sounds as though its running rich in a hot climate and if u run in high stress situations running a tiny bit rich is a good thang

Yea i am in arizona and it,s been in the 100's lately but i noticed it at the track during the night races and it was probably in the 80's and i really dont think i stress it that much but who knows i do trail riding and mx and desert rcing but havent put that much stress on engine since rebuild the most stress is at the track
