First of all, laugh all you want but 90mpg is starting to sound good these days. Anyhow, I have been checking out scooters like the Yamaha Vino 125 to try and save a little gas. Anyone here own one or know of anything better? We are mainly looking for a 2 rider model so we could haul one of the kids along now and then. I like some of the bigger/more expensive ones but at $5K it doesn't seem too practical. The Vino 125 is only around $2500 new. Any suggestions?

if i had to commute to work i surely would own one. or atleast a bike in general. even my 1300cc royal star got 35-45 if i was easy on it.

but i walk 30 seconds to work so thats kinda nice. really cheap gas bill every week unless its a race weekend. haha.

5k on a scooter to save 500 in fuel doesn't seem practicle to me. i would shoot for one of the 1000-2500 range AT THE MOST. you can get one of the yami zuma's on ebay for like 1300 and they are NICE. they get 50mpg.

My wife was actually hoping to drive the thing to work which is almost 20 miles. I was looking at the zuma but I thought it was only 50cc. I'm not sure it would cut it on the back country roads where I live. I'd really like to stick with something with the larger 125cc engine. The reviews I read on the Vino said they never got less than 80mpg.:eek2: I think it only holds a little over 1 gal though.

i weigh 330 and the zuma had plenty for me...but it wouldn't really do more then 35 at any time. but for real communting when time matters more a 125 should be plenty.

I think at 35 mph I would get run over on the roads around here. Plus time would be a factor at 35 it would take my wife nearly an hour to get to work.

Anyone know of some good dependable models with something in the 125cc range? I've tried searching around but everyone seems to claim their scooter is the greatest. I really don't know much about scooters so I really need some opinions from more owners.
Thanks
