301 Buick V8 engine info...???

So my grandma was nice enough to give me her car and its a 1980 Buick LeSabre coupe with a 4.9(301) V8 in it. Can anybody fill me in on this engine. I dont know much about it. I'm prolly not gonna keep it in the car but i was just curious. I'll prolly build up a 350 to put in there maybe even a 400 big block:D :devil:

The 301 in³ (4.9 L) 301 was actually a Pontiac V8 engine

it is a pontiac enigine, Pontiac put it in their firebirds with and without turbos. Slow engine though without the turbo, and no parts for it in the aftermarket world.

I would drop a 350 in it they are cheap and aftermart parts are cheap.

I am guessing the car you got has the Th350 trans in it, so that will bolt to a 350.

i'll post pics of later this afternoon. i was goin to bring it home yesterday but i drove it to go eat at a restaraunt last night in hutch where my grandma lives and when we were almost back to her house i killed it tryin to do a burnout at a stop light. Wasnt very fun to push back to grandmas .:chinese:
