I am thinking of getting a Ditbike too, just as something to mess around on.

KTM's are known for having great power and reliability, but are expensive to buy and buy parts for.

The only bad thing about KTM's that I hear is that the "no=link" rear suspension supposedly sucks....ask some people, I think Pappy's sone has a 85sx.....so ask him about the rear suspension, im sure he's put it to the test by now...:eek2:

125/250 or 250/450?

One of my buddies has the YZ250f and it has been a great bike to him. It handles great, has alot of bottom end, and best of all has been very reliable. He will pull on the KTM 250 by a tad on the bottom, and the KTM will catch it on the top. Overall it seems pretty solid.

I don't know much about the others save for the KTM....but I have mixed feelings on that bike. I am not going to down talk it....but I will say that I will NEVER own one because of what I have seen from them.

I am getting married and wanna snag some quick cash, so I sold my 05 400ex for $4k. I just got an 06 TTR125LE for $1,500 and spent another $500 on a frame cradle and new springs front and back. I have never had a dirtbike before. So far I am having a blast on it.

Information like your height, weight, skill level, desired motor size, and what kind of riding you're looking to do are a little important when asking about a bike.

Yeah man, it doesn't matter what brand you like! You could hate Honda with a passion then end up sitting on one or riding it and come to find out you love the bike and your size is perfect for it. Thing's can come into play such as foot peg location, seat height and the bikes overall design can cause either benefit or failure apon the way you ride.

You cannot compare a 85 to a big bike. It's like comparing apples to oranges. My son will be getting a 85 soon and I can tell you it won't be a KTM 85. Not becuase of the rear suspension but because they are unreliable.

Really?....ive always heard good things about them...

I only hear bad stuff about suzuki's and kawasaki's...

Yamaha, Honda and KTM are all bikes that Ive heard good things about.....

When I buy a bike, its going to be used, more than likely 250 pinger...and its gonna be a project bike....:)

EDIT beat me to it

KTM has what no other companies have. Quality. Look at the details of their bikes and then look at a Yamaha or a Honda.

Actually, those small little two strokes are some of the most reliable out there. Everyone that I know that had them cannot kill them. In fact, one of the guys I know had so much luck on his RM85 that now he is ditching his KTM to go back with a Suzuki....

pick your favorite color...buy it and set it up for it. They are all so close any more it, the differences bewteen them wont matter for the average rider.
