there has been some really nice ones, but the cr500 motor needed to do that rattles the chassis apart and usually breaks it also. Almost everybody who built one said they would never do it again, a 350 is just as powerfull and much easier to ride. I have seen some done in atc frames and they don't rattle bad at all(very little) and the frames hold up very well. If you wanted to build one, most will tell you not to do it.

I love Big bore 2 strokes also... anybody heard of any other big bore dirt bike 2 strokes in an ATV like a KTM550 2 stroke? Do they all shake the living $%&@ out of you? ...or WR500? CR480R... etc (Just curious)

Excuse my ingorance, I've never split the case on a CR500R, but I am an engineer. Its seems that a counter-balancer could be designed for one to limit resonant vibration in the chassis.
To me the trx500r was my dream quad, that Honda refused to build.
My friend had a 01 CR500R, and it was sick. From my researching the CR was a pretty reliable engine too. Not much changed from 88 on.
