Anybody here have their motor ticking. It seems everyone of my friends that has a 300ex or 400ex has a light ticking in thier motor. Anybody else have this heppening? Is it normal to happen to Hondas?

10-4 on the ticking, you will know when there is a bad tick.

So you all think it's the cam. Is it because it is worn? Or something else? More details please. thanks. :)

no it's normal. it's just the design of the motor having an overhead cam and the way the rockers are set up and the valve lash. you hear it more with everything being right there on top of the motor. i've got a stage 1 hotcam in mine and it ticks louder than the stock one did.

just like said before if it's a bad tick you'll know.

you might even look into adjusting the valves that helps quiet them down for a little bit.

Do you even have a after-market cam in your motor. How long has it been since your last valve adjustment

CarGuy7a, I think your right. But today I also adjusted the valveson my 300 to be sure with that. I'll have to do the same for my all my friend's 400EX's. Thanks for the quick help. :)

yeah i adjusted the valves on my friends 400 recently. he bought it new in 03 and never had them adjusted, he kept the oil changed and stuff but needless to say they were way out. we rode it after adjusting them and holy crap you could tell a difference.
