nah man its the replacement for the blaster they stoped makinag the blasters in 2006 and now this new raptor 250 is the replacement for blasters which were about 500 dollars cheaper...why did they ever stop making the blasters t

I also think its a step down..
I guess I got too excited when I seen the raptor250 thinking it was going to be based off the YFZ450 frame backed up by the 250f motor

06-12-2007, 10:48 AM
yeah its definatly not a 250f race quad...oh well

Manual tranny...I suppose if someone was bored enough in a few years, they could bore it to a 300, put some suspension on it, a few things here and threre, and they'd have Yamaha's 4-stroke answer to the Youth Production class?

I still really want to see a 250F Race quad...but I'm sure it will never happen.

Is the 250 going to have a race inspired engine or a 250ex type deal ?

06-12-2007, 11:09 AM
i think 250ex

Well, I can say that while I am disappointed it doesn't have the YZ250F motor. (At first glance, with the aggressive styling I thought it might.)

I will say that at least it's chain drive and is more sporty than I expect. I think this will def. smoke a 250EX. It will likely compete with the 250X/300EX style machines.

Great machine for a beginner.

Also, here is the side view of the motor, its an air cooled mill.

Also, appears to be non-removable subframe, no-link rear shock, and basically the same overall dimensions as the blaster-maybe a tad larger.

06-12-2007, 11:22 AM
its basicaly the Z250 and 250ex competition...just a 4 stroke blaster....prolyl a lil bit slower then a blaster...around 15-17 hp probally

I stopped to think a minute, and a 250F racer might be what we want, but it's not really what we NEED.

IF you look back at what happened in the 80's because of three-wheelers and the CPSC, I can foresee alot more young kids getting hurt/killed on a 250F RACING DESIGNED quad. It would only serve to hurt this growing sport in my opinion.

Let me make it clear that I am totally for the 250F class racers, it's just that there are two many morons out there right now that will F things up for everyone else. In this day and age with corruption and crazy people running the country, all it would take is a few 14 y.o. kids to get killed on one and then BAM-outlawed.

Those same people your talking about buy YFZ's , 450r's , Raptor 700 everyday... So would it really hurt if Yamaha produce a sweet quad for the majority of the people who want to race and have excitement on the weekends? we really dont Need any quad.. we want them :D

I understand that completely. My point is that the idiots won't understand that it is a race machine designed for older, more experienced riders. It would be compared to the other 250 four stroke machines with about 1/2 the power output. The problem is that these crazies have no clue about quads or this sport.

When I posted above, I was basically taking a step back, and looking at it from an "outsiders" POV.

Yeah you tell em.

I think that orange YFZ is killer. I would deff take one of em. The raptor 250 is a hell of a lot better then the 250ex.

Cause a law came out that said u cant produce brand new two stroke quads and sell them in retail, I think the rappy 250 is nice but if u put a bore kit and a pipe on a blaster it would rip.

This blaster replacement isnt no good...i dont even know how they can make something like that?? I dont know witch is worse, the raptor 250 or 350??

And am i the only person that has a hard time saying raptor 250 and raptor 350?? they are still a warrior and 4 stroke blaster in my book

I too don't see a big market for this quad. Heck, if it wasn't for the Warrior's 6 speeds, it wouldn't beat a 300ex in a race. This will even be a step down from that.

A manual tranny and a 250cc motored sport quad just doesn't make sense. That's half the beauty of a 250ex or a suzuki 250, they're auto's.
