chain adj. on a jrd

on my jrd hybrid, the chain adjustment is only about half a turn of the carrier. i have the adjustment holes facing the front sprocket, is there something wrong? or is this all they go?

Couple things, if you are actually getting 1/2 turn, that is more than I've ever seen. Second, your carrier needs to turn 180 degrees, those adjustment holes should be facing the rear, not front. Some carriers give you more adjustment than others, but I've never seen one that would not tighten your chain properly, that is unless your chain is shot and has stretched waaaaay to much.

have a jrd crf450, my adjustment holes are facing straight back, also have a tapered carrier. plenty of chain adjustment.
