something electrical won't let my engine start

hey guys when I try to start my quad i just hear a tick from a circular black thing to the left of my battery(solenoid?) and I tried to tighten the bolts on there to see if there was a good connection or what and it still doesn' fire. Now do I need a new one of these or is there something I can do with it to fix it. The bike just wouldn't start yesterday after it was running fine. Any help is appreciated.

mine was doing the same thing and all it was ,was that the bolt on one of the battery terminal cames loose try that

I did tighten everything up and it still won't start. man they need a kickstart kit for the 400!!

mine did the same thing... ended up being a bad battery. mine was an 02 and it happened about a few months ago. they kinda just go without warning. have your battery checked and make sure all your connections are good from battery, to starter, to ignition.

who makes a kickstart kit for the 400ex can you still have electric start to.

Do a search and you will find this isn't really an option without putting in a dirt bike motor.

there actually is not kit i just don't like electric start and wish there was a kit for the 400ex

Got any more info on this. Does it atleast require the bottom end from the XR400? What is the cost? I'm all ears. Thanks.

give me a few minutes, i should be able to dig up something i found before ont his topic, but there is a kit its roughly 200-400 range

pretty much it CAN be done but you need xr400 parts, id do it if i could find the parts cheap enough
