All of the 08's are out on the honda website except for the 400ex are they redisigning it or are they going to stop making them?

i think they are redesigning it. becouse the 300ex wasnt on there site for 07 until the new body syle one just showed up..

They'd go out of buissness if they stopped makin the 400ex, that was the 1st 4 stroke that brought it back.

I HATE, absoulutely HATE how they made the 300ex a 450r wanna-bee.

i'll agree with the liquid cooling and fan, and new styling. prolly 450r type of course..... and there'll be some different colors.

but they really need to put a liquid and fan cooling system on it, it would help it so much.

pretty sure they are just making improvments to it cuz they cant get rid of the 400!

a new pair of front shocks that are fully adjustable and possibly a bigger carb dont seem too far out there. a water cooled engine would be great also. then i think the 400 class would be dominated by honda.

Honda usually doesn't release changed/updated models till later on in the year.

We haven't heard anything on quite a few of Honda's ATVs. This is all we got so far.

2008 Honda ATV Lineup (http://www.atvriders.com/atvmodels/honda2008atvmodels.html)

Looks like they are gonna update the Recon's this year as well.

I think that honda should change back to the old 400ex style for 2008 with radiator and fan and just maybe DOHC just my opion

Sorry, but I have to ask-why would they make the 400EX a DOHC engine? That would make absolutely NO sense coming from Honda.

I do wish that they changed the look of the EX, though. Not necessarily back to the old look, but something new-something that is NOT a 450r wanna-be. I think that it would be stupid to ditch the EX entirely....still I don't see where Honda would be willing to change a whole lot on it either. Should be interesting.

They are always gonna model the other quads after the top of the line one. Its like a trademark. It becomes recognizable and honda is gonna stick with the '450r' look.

it would be nice to see updated suspension, and back to its old style:D

how come they didnt do that with the 400ex when that was their top of the line quad?

Definetely want the original style back. They should use 450r shocks, chit they all ready have the R plastics. I don't mind the air cooled though, Liquid cooled is great and everything, but it requires a little more maintnance

Its a big secret but their going to remake the 250r this year.

Just kidding

The original 400ex styling is still one of my favorite designs ever, I'd personally love it if they went back to it.

I think liquid cooled would be great for it. But it almost wreaks the whole point of the 400ex, people always are getting them because they are very reliable quads. If they completly changed the engine they might not have the same reliablity that the 400ex used to have. They are pretty well even with the z400 now with out being liquid cooled.

lol there prolly just updating the plastics to the 06-08 450r style rather than 04-05 lmfao

I dont think there would be any point to liquid cooling on a 400ex. It has no trouble staying cool.

I have my motor bored to 416, ported & polished, 450r carb, and a cam. Ontop of this i am runing and advance timing key that they DONT Recomend running because of heat issues.

It does just fine and does not get overly hot. I dont think the 400ex would benefit very much from a liquid cooling system.

To be honest with you i have no idea what honda is gonna do with the 400ex. I would like to see them drop the 400ex. and make a highly competetive 250/300 class bike.

It is possible to make a 250/300 level bike to easily keep up with the 400ex and it would be great for younger racers as well.

have they set a date to release the new models.

ya the 400ex doesn't need liquid cooling, it would just mean more maintaining. NEW front shocks and BNG maybe. "If it aint broke then don't fix it."

I don't think they will make it a Liquid cooled engine...but maybe they are going to try a new frame and suspension to see some possible problems/flaws before they go and apply the new design/upgrades to the '09TRX450R. I could see them adding a new look to go with it....

Who knows....?

Dual exhaust would be GAY unless its a twin.

DOHC, the 450r is SOHC, why would they make the 400ex dual? Cost twice as much to get aftermarket.

And make it liquid cooled?:huh They would have to redesign the whole engine for that and then make all new parts cuz then 99-07 wouldn't fit on 08 and up.

So I obviously dissagree with all of this.

LoL.

maybe the 400ex is just finished??

I dont think many people are buying them anymore

That right there is probably the most correct answer I've read yet. There is no way they are gonna make it DOHC or Liquid Cooled-it just ain't happening. If you want a Liquid Cooled-Hi-Perf engine, buy a 450R, and that is what the majority are doing. I'd like to see the 400EX and 450R sales figures, but I'd bet that they sell 3x as many 450R's as they do EX's.

I am in no way slamming the 400EX, just stating that with the new 450 machines, the 400 is kind of just a stepping stone between the Blaster/300EX class machines that most people are skipping over.

The 400ex isn't done. It's probably one of the best quads around, plenty people still ride them. Why would honda discontinue it? they would loose tons of sales

One of my only guesses is that it will have the 06-08 light and hood out front. Other than that maybe better shocks?

the honda website shows an 08 400ex. It just says "Coming Soon" along with several other quads. I'm sure they are jsut making some changes and releasing it with the 2nd wave of quads in a couple weeks.

IMHO they should consolidate parts. Put the 400ex motor in a 450r frame. ;) Would reduce the manufacturing costs of both quads.

I would agree, except I liked the way my 400ex handled better than my 450R, it also had better flight manners.
