400ex fastest 400 out there?

theres a bunch of 400 around where i ride....just rode with 2 400exs and a 400kfx today. Will the 400ex beat the 400kfx ...is it the fastest 400 out there? I'm considering the 400ex over the 450R ONLY because people say it's more reliable and it has reverse....but i really want to have pretty much one of the fastest quads around so i want to go with the 450R....would i beat a kfx400 with a 400ex?

a 450r will rape a 400. any 400. but i wouldn't get a 450r cause you want the fastest quad around (and plus its not the fastest 450 either...) i would get something you can have fun on and still be a good machine.

400ex = great freeride quad, can be made a racer, freestyler, anything.

450 = pure race quad but can be used on trails too

i kind of wish in a way i would have spent the extra 1,000 or so and got the 450. don't get me wrong though i absolutely love my 400EX but i'm the kind that i always wants more power. i've never riden a 450 but they look very similar to a 400. either way man honda is a good brand they make all their atv's pretty much bullet proof.

as for reverse. WHO FRIGGEN NEEDS IT????????!!!!!!!!! if you get stuck in the mud reverse is not gonna help. but really you don't have a choice on the new 400's. either way it's still a good quad.

If you want more power, Talk to Duncan Racing. They will set you up with the parts to make your EX a monster.

well i would but there's no reason to becuase the thing runs like brand new. doesn't smoke or anything. well it is pretty much new prob not even 50 hrs on it.

to me boring out a motor that doesn't have any problems is a waste. when she starts smokin i'll prob redo the head and go to like a 416 but right now it's just a waste of time and money to rip apart a perfect running motor.

i'd say the 400exs are probably the slowest 400 out, i've got one and i've ridden my friends z400 and the z is faster than the ex and the kfx400 are basically the same thing as the z so i would say that they are faster too

I got a 400ex and my friend has a kfx 400, only mod i got is its piped and jetted with a white bros pipe, at the start of the drag i stomp him in acceleration till he hits 4th gear then he pulls away a good bit, but once hes top speed and when im at top speed they seem to go the exact same mph. Remember though, mines piped, before when i raced him stock i didnt do so well. Stock a kfx has 3 more hp i beleive.

you might own the fastest quad for a
week/month/year....but eventually someone is gonna
come by and woop ya and then you're gonna be wanting
more and more and more.... the 400ex is a killer quad
you can ride in the woods, you can ride on the track,
its good to jump, its great to haul that fine hottie on the
back of... reverse...EY no thanks ill find the closest hill and right up it and coast backwards and turn around
haven't had any problems yet.... oh yeah not to mention
you can beat the living crapola out of a 400ex and she
still purrs like a kitten... I'll never own anything other
than a honda.....I've ridden the ltr450....HATE IT!!! talk about riding an over sized blaster...... but anyway...thats just my point of view...take it or leave it....have fun with whatever you get man....just don't kill yourself.....

crazyness is only great if you live to use it another day....

All 400s are close in top speed. I have beaten some z400 and some have beat me in the straightaways.
I rode and uncorked kfx450r this weekend and all i can say is wow.

The 400ex is slower then the z in stock form but its really close...light mods will easily make the honda own it...a bone stock 450 is faster then the 400ex but with the right mods (lets say piston,pipe,carb work) the ex can beat the 450r...you can make a 400 faster then a stock or piped 450 but once the heavy mods are in the 450r you might as well get another 450.
