Interesting that KTM and possibly Kawaski are going for the XC trail market vs Suzuki and Can-am going for MX market.

Honda and Yamaha are kinda in the middle but neither have reverse.

Actually is seems like Cam-Am stock is more of a XC quad and KTM will be going for both XC and MX...they will have a MX version with 450 also.

I was thinking the same thing. With all the talk of the KTM 450, I think the 525 will be very hard to beat. Everyone knows how fast the Outlaw 525 is and this thing will be alot lighter.

And KTM already has prove power package options available. They offer a 540 kit, a stroker version of the that kit 576 cc (or 552 cc with stock piston). So you have a ton of great power options ready to go.

do you think the 450mx will not have reverse? or do you think they will keep it on both?

You can even get a 610cc kit :p

You can have 70+ HP and still have a very reliable engine.

Ah yes, the LC4 engine. One of the most reliable engines you can get.

I got a engine just like that in my quad. The power is amazing. From 2500 RPM it just rips your arms of :D 55HP and 60 Nm (44 Lbs/ft) stock.

The engine is from 2002, and I have it for 3 seasons now, so far no problems.:p

This is true but it won't be cheap. You have to get your head ported by HMC, or Hank Thomas in Cali with big valves which will cost you $700, you have to buy the 8/06 camshaft $180, you have to have the big bore 100mm SMR cylinder and piston $1200, you have to have your cases bored to accept this cylinder $100-200?, and the stroker crank is like $750 which all in all = 610cc monster. Yes you will have 70RWHP(on pump gas) and yes you will have something like 55-58ftlbs of torque, but for a pretty penny of something like 3000 dollars!!!!!!!!!!

He is definatly not lying about the possibility of haveing the lightest weight highest HP motor on the market. Some things to remember are you wil not be able to turn this motor more that 9500-9800rpms unless you have the whole engine blue printed and balanced. Yes it will put harder than anything that you probably have riddin, and yes it will be very reliable if you keep up with general maintenace(valve clearence, oil changes). I will definatly vouch for this guys comment.

You don't need to turn more rpm than 9800 with these engines.

$3000 for 70 horsepower is not bad. You can spend more than that on a 450r engine and still have barely 60 and much less torque and zero reliability. One of my friends is happy to get 50 hrs out of his CRF engines before doing a top end job.

My 525SX is an '04 and I'm just now replacing the timing chain. I measured the piston and cylinder and they both measure less than .0005" wear. I change the oil once a year whether it needs it or not.:eek2:
