I bet the MX version has race fenders or at least removable ones.... I just hope it isn't $9000 like i have heard....if you put it at 8000 or 7700 you steal the entire market then

you all can talk them down, But everyone iv ever known who has had a ktm dirtbike loves them! my opnion is that ktm will put a pro rider on a ktm quad that will finish the top 10 in 08 gncc.

There is no way it will sell that cheap. I think you need to go and look at the specs again. There is no way possible for you to buy any 450 and mod it like the stock KTM and even be close to $9000. Those Ohlins PDS shocks will cost you near $2000. A 2 stage CDI, much bigger fuel tank, hydraulic clutch, Razr tires, tether cord. fully adjustable a-arms, totally race ready rear axles and bearings, plus it allready has 53hp for the 525, which is 10hp more then any 450. Look how much that would cost for a 450 to match. For $9000, the KTM is a bargin.:macho

i must say the more i look at it the more it grows on me, its gotta be a good bike because ktm seems to make the ultimate dirtbikes,

and for any price around 9000 its a deal because this bike is set up

this bike definatly came on the scene out of no where, i know we all have been anticipating its arrival for some time, but i definatly didnt see it coming this soon

just needed to share my 0.02

I hope YFZ plastics are swappable, so we're ready to go

Yeah same here. The front plastics kinda remind me of the old 250 quadracers.

I can tell you that after owning my KTM bike I will have the mx version in my garage. They build some very quailty parts and come with some of the best stock parts on the market. They are known to be very reliable. This should raise the bar on the sport quad group.

word is that its going to have the most hp of all the 450s in stock form and i dont doubt it. should have awesome power.

If I had to switch quads, KTM would be the only one I would consider. Can't wait to see the MX version, and if it is a TRUE ready to race. My Honda might have a friend in the garage.

1. DS 650's and Predators are ugly. All the 450's look basically the same and who cares what it really looks like as long as it's fast and well built.

2. KTM has long brought dirtbikes to market with features that the Japs wouldn't offer, at roughly the same price. Hydraulic clutches, Magura Fat bars, quality chains, etc........Don't be suprised if they are less than a $1000 more than the rest.

3. Count on the Rotax sourced 450 in the DS being the engine of the year in it's class. The KTM 450's aren't any more impressive than the jap 450's.....but maybe they won't lose as much punch as the Jap's do when they go from 2 to 4 wheels.

The 525 model on the otherhand should be the all time stock dune machine.......well at least until the Aprilia 550 twin finds it's way into a quad.

KTM's are also known for having the worst suspension in the dirt bike world....they have no linkage on the bikes...hope they have one on their quad

ktmquad

If you guys are wondering how well this quad will do. Well, I have a hybrid KTM w/ the 525exc and it is stock other than a wiseco piston 11.5-1 and a white brothers ti pipe system and it will holeshot most any other quad I have ran against. I have ran against some of baldwins as well as tc's, so yes they are fast and dependable. I ran mine for 2 1/2 yrs stock before I had to put the new piston in it and I raced it MX, TT, Circle Track as well as 2 man 2hr 1 quad XC. i was going to run the 6 hrs at Luburgh's last yr but it was canceled, maybe someplace this yr. I have mine set up w/ laeger narrow frame, cr500 rear link, t-pin front w/ 0-preload shocks. 1 word AWESOME. also I have heard for all those guessing, that the KTM production was modeled after the HONDA 450r as far as the frame and suspension. FINALLY

Just wonderin if you guys think with all of the new 450s + the old ones wat will happen to the sport?

i think in a few years it will be great! assuming they all stick around there could be 6 factory teams probably more aftermarket companies to sponsor privateers but idk?? some ppl i know say its "killin the sport"?? cant se how but wat do u think?

gncc025
06-14-2007, 11:29 PM
i dont think its anywhere close to kiling the sport. i think its the best thing to happen to it. i hope that with in a few years that quads have the same notoriety as the dirtbikes do. the more the factory support means the more the money. the more the money then the more the popularity and success.
