Friends Kfx 450r Caught On Fire!!!

I am sure this is a first one ever burned out there. Travis Bell, the owner said his battery overheated after charging it up from being dead and blew and caught the whole rest of the quad on fire. I dont know all of the details yet but I will keep it posted. He is fine but the quad however is not. He had a warranty on it thank god so he is getting another one for basically nothing. He races gncc and awrcs so heres a picture before and after the damage

except in this case there was no fault of the machine in normal operation. The battery exploded while he was charging it...

I know that, I was just saying because the quad just came out X months ago and it caught on fire.

who cares when it came out.


this is the owners fault for charging his battery so much that it exploded. and does a warranty cover owner error?

Wow that sucks......THat 1 kids cdale burnt down when he tryed to start it.....but this kawi doesnt look as melted.Front hipers look like they wuld prolby be fine? dont know about that left rear in the pic.

I know of that kid. I saw him racing at Boyers last year on an orange 300ex. He went through the tape n made a hill out of the creek that was the best line for the rest of the day. People were talking him up n how good he normally does.

Maybe he used a regular full powered car charger? You dont want to use over 2 amps while charging a quad or motorcycle battery or they can blow from excessive boiling, hydrogen gas buildup and a internal spark.

well there is a recall for the gas tanks.

that sux...he might be able to salvage some parts form that, the bumper, front and possibly back hipers, maybe the front shocks, but prob not much else...that stinx:ermm:
