Extreme Couch Racing

Well The Fourth of July Weekend is getting closer, and once again the Breezewood Proving Grounds will be holding their annual Quad Pulled Couch Race. We are giving a free 3 month membership to the winning team.

What is it: Teams of two modify a couch so that it can be pulled by a quad down our driveway and around the garage - approximately 1/2 mile. The couches can be modified anyway you like - THE ONLY RULE IS THE COUCH CAN NOT HAVE WHEELS !

You can add skid plates, ski's, roll bar, padding anything you like. You use your own rope and your own quad - Anysize, to pull the couch around the course with your craziest buddy on board. Racers will go two at a time, the winner moves on to the next round.

Last year we had eleven teams enter their couch to try and win the membership. We are expecting even more this year. I'm looking forward to seeing some of the cool contraptions the riders will come up with.


Wether you are racing in the event or just watching - This is a great time with lots of action and cheering. The race is on Saturday July 7th at 3 pm.

We have a weekend full of activities including a mud bog, free pig roast and hay rides for the kids.

This was the couch I made for the race: bumbers, grap bar, nerfs, 1" thick plywood base with pvc pipe edging. Banshee pipes out the rear.

.....looked awesome, but when it came time to get on it and race - I chickened out. I don't think I was prepared for how fast and aggressive the racers were gonna be - the membership had riders giving it their all. I think some of the quads were reaching 4th gear !!

the couches are burned in a bon-type fire that can be seen from the space shuttle the night after the race! i wonder who's trailer will bubble this year:eek:

This years race should be off the hook fun. I've had tons of people telling me they are building couches. Anyone got pictures of the couch they are working on should post them !!

im 25 minutes from the pa line. it takes me 55 minutes to get to BPG. its only like 35 miles but the roads are back roads so speeds are slow etc
