srt4's

How are the srt4's they any good? Or are they a big no no?

2 of my friends had them one of them was orange and the other was red the red one some people broke the window out and tossed a fire bomb in it in scranton pa and it was burned and the orange one slowly started to fall apart and he just traded it in for a new dodge ram 1500. They are fast as hell and fun to drive but both regreted buying them in the first place. I had a white STI for a few months and it was fun but alot of trouble, now my insurance is through the roof. Fun while you have them but not worth it in the long run.

It's just Domestic Rice.

Hey its a dodge, so therefore it American. I like to think of them as the mild form of American muscle, but I'm not sure but I know that nothing beats american muscle but when they are American 4 cylinders, I'm not sure if they still hold their own against Acura RSX's and Cvics and eclipses. But I'd imagine they would since they are like mini muscle cars in a way, too bad dodge doesn't make the SRT4 a Hemi SRT4, now that would be sweet.

Umm yeah i hate to rain on your parade but SRT4's are modern american muscle cars. And they are not domestic rice either. Ignorance is bliss i guess. Tell me how a car that doesnt cost much and has 230+ hp to the wheels(also does 160mph) rice or not a mucsle car? By pure definition of a muscle car they are. Any real/true hotrod/muscle car person will agree. If your callin it rice because of the wing well guess what? Dale Seely and the team at PVO designed the spoiler to be functional. And the scoop on the hood is functional too and actually directs air over the turbo to aid in cooling. Srt4's are a blast to drive and are great at ruining alot of peoples days.

so to all the people that have no idea what there talking about just keep silent.

ive seen them at the track run in the 13's, annoying though because they have the huge "ricer" fart pipe,

for the horsepower and how gas is these days.. any 4 cylinder car is a great buy especially for younger kids with part time jobs / college. My buddy and I would race the 1994 5.0 mustang gt with slp cat back.. against a bone stock srt-4 and the srt-4 ate him up all day.. but the thing is it's a neon not an srt-4.. its a neon with a turbo and its obvious like the guy said in the first page.. they start to fall apart and that is why there cheap.. there made cheap/light.. its a "up to you" situation not really anybody else's opinion.. because everyone's opinion is based off a dream car or there own car..

if all he has is a cat back on the mustang then thats the reason he is losing,they are probly about the same in hp but the neon is way lighter, i doubt that neon can line up against my 83 mustang and win

Dude me and my buddy in the srt4 and the sti both beat a corvette z06 and a saleen mustang in a straight line drag it not that there not fast or fun they just dont add up in the end. They are worht it the first few months but then it just goes down hill.

SRT-4's make around 230-235 to the wheels stock, that pretty good considering you could buy one new for under 20,000 ( they don't make them anymore). These cars have been proven to make some pretty good HP easily.

Just make sure to get an 04 or 05 because the 03's didnt have an LSD. Just be ready for some torque steer:D

STI's are a blast... They have to be one of my favorite cars to drive... I figured out that the STI can AT LEAST double any speed limit on the street. Going through the canyons/hills in an STI is so much fun, but in the end like 250f was saying its just not worth it. And if you think a car like that is going to save you gas, think again because they are made to be driven hard and you WILL drive them hard. In other words, you are going to be sucking more gas than you think.

I topped out the STI at about 158mph one night around 2am on the freeway and that was 6th gear pretty much redlined. The best feature about the whole car by far is the excellent handling. All wheel drive rocks. I have never been a big fan of srt's because I hate front wheel drive.

Yeah think about high test gas gets pricey after the 3rd or 4th tank that week and on top of that you insurance will almost double mine did. I got 3 tickets in one shot one night 1 for street raceing 1 for speeding and 1 for carless driving. Befor i got that car i had no accidents no tickets and NO POINTS on my license. Deff fun to drive and I also had mine top out at 158 on high performance snow tires those things were buzzin. And another fun down fall is all wheel drive cyclones, everyone that gets in the car wants to experience them and when you kick a set of tires in 2,000 miles its another not cheap fun thing to do.

It was sooo much fun, but after awhile I didn't think it was worth it to beat up a $35,000 car that wasn't mine like that... =\ The suspension is incredible though, I have launched it pretty far before... I'm going to have to dig up some pics...

One of my good friends is the owner, and yes, he is that cool to let me take it out on my own. Its kind of like the "You break it you buy it!" He is pretty wealthy, and when he goes out of town he doesn't like to leave it on the street for days/weeks at a time so I take care of it here. :devil: He is happy as long as I pay for the gas and go get his routine oil checkups and such.

I havent had any problems at all with my srt4 the two years ive owned it. Yeah true it is a neon and this is my 3rd neon. In all honesty knowing what i know now i wish i kept my 97 acr neon and swapped in an srt engine/trans/wiring harness. Sick to know a stock srt engine in a 1st gen neon will do low 13's/ high 12's all day long. A friend of mine with a convertible cobra mustang is building one right now. gonna be a sick lil sleeper for sure. and oh gas costs me 25 bucks a week and my insureance is 1000 a year for full coverage. the best year srt4 to own is an 04. 03 has no lsd and less hp and the 05s are to sensitive to mods. it has a more advanced ecu in it which sucks.


and the FWD problem goes away fast with a set of slicks. :D

i doubt the srt4 took a vette and saleen, if so its a highly highly modded srt4, and the turbo works best on the other end of the track not at the starting line

they seem like cool cars. the white one in this thread is pretty tuff. but to alot of people, its a neon. and i couldnt be putting up with that ****. id rather buy something else.

Not to be a butthole but ask around there fast outta the box and with the sti you can launch it at 5500 rpm's and just jet outta the hole and not have one tire slip. And for the record not I dont have proof I dont usually carry a video camera to tape races.

My first time down the track with my srt4 i went 13.9 at 103. That was bone stock. I dunno what it will do now. The record for a stock srt4 is 13.57 at 105 mph. Another reason it sucks having one around here is no one will play with you because theres quite a few around here that run 11's and 12's all day long. The highest HP to the wheels srt4 i know is 593 hp.
