How hard is it to install? What washers or spacers do you have to install? Anything else Id need to do? Any pics?

Search the Trx250ex sub-forum for 300ex rear shock. There is lots of information and some pictures.
Basically, the installation requires drilling out the shock mounts to accept a 12mm bolt (the 300ex shock) from the stock 10mm bolt (the 250ex). You need to add a washer on each side of the the 300ex shock bushing for the top mount to stop lateral play. That's it.
Everyone agrees the stock tires need to go also.
Holeshots, Razrs, or Klaws; your choice.

If you are wanting something softer go with a 400EX front shock on the rear of the 250EX....I did that on my wifes 250EX. The stock rear shock is so stiff that me sitting on it wouldn't even make it squat. And I'm about 240. So my 135 pound wife sure isn't gonna squat it. Now its a freakin dream to ride. I bought a pair of Works fronts off of ebay that were for the front of a 400EX. The one the shaft was broke but I only needed one. I think I paid 56 shipped for them.

If you are going with a 300EX you might as buy a Raptor Rear and put on it. It has much more adjustabilty than the 300EX

What would I have to do to make it fit?

Here is the pic of it. The springs need powdercoated but they are almost the exact length as the stock shock. I also have 300EX front shocks on it. And yes I still have the other shock. ANd yes I will sell it, it needs a new shaft though.

That looks pretty cool. So you didnt have to drill any holes? Or did you? BTW, you got anymore pics of that 250? It looks pretty nice....

i like the blue. Did you have to fab. the bike or shock at all?

no nothing just some washers on the top mount and that is it. Now the 300EX fronts had to have washers added to the top and then the bottom mount had to be clearanced to fit in the a-arm. the 300EX fronts give some adjustablity to the front that the stockers don't.....grant it its not much but its more than it had before.

Hey lonestar, you think a stock 400ex front shock would work good too?

Yeah I don't see why not. The spring on the stock 400EX shock is alot lighter spring and being a front shock the valving will be lighter too. And there is a little adjustablity with the 400EX stock front compared to the stock 250EX rear.

Lonestar_R;
Did the 400ex Works shock raise the rear height, if so about how much? This sounds like a better alternative than the 300ex shock.
Also, is the bottom shock bushing wider than the 250ex?
Thanks, nice looking quad too.

well you can adjust the ride height by changing where the snap ring so that wasn't a problem. I don't believe the bottom bushing needed anything but I would have to go look. oh and thanks for the compliment on the bike
