i have an 04 450r with no air box lid, K&N filter, and custom made shorty pipe.
i have a 162 main jet but it seems to bog in the lower end what can i do to fix this??

Have you put a leak jet in it yet and a adj needle?

04's dont have a leak jet


Have you adjusted anything other than your main which still is lean? I would try a 50 pilot, move the clip down to the 4th or 5th slot and a 175 main.

My bad misread the year yeah the main is way to small for that year!

You should be up one size on the pilot jet from stock. Around 180-185 main. maybe move the needle up 1 notch.

i had a bigger jet on it and it seemed to sputter in the top end. i tried to adjust the needle but couldnt get to to it. how do i adjust the needle?

You have to access the needle from the top of the carb. It requires removal of the fuel tank. You have to take the top cover off the carb. Then there are 2 small screws that hold the slide to the arm. The needle is under there. You have to remove the 2 screws then pull the needle up and out. Move the clip position and put it back in. I can get pictures tonight if you need them.
