Well I broke a balljoint the other day in practice and got a few shots as it was happening and thought it was kinda cool. You can see in my picture its already broken. I might have broke it hitting the jump.

I was slowing down for the corner and started to feel my back end come around.

I finally realized what happened when I couldnt move. It didn't actually break the balljoint, the ball actually pulled itself out of the cup. I ordered 4 new ones today.

As soon as we got the quad off the track people were offering help. Luckily someone had a balljoint that didn't quite fit the taper but still got me by for the night. Picture is a little blurry.

The main thing is at least you didn't get hurt. I have seen guys ball-it-up pretty bad when them break or give.....

Nice pics too.

breaking ball joints sucks...1st race this year on the last lap within 1/4 mile of the score tent i smacked a tree and found my right front tire under my bike held on by the brake line:D :D

Does any-one ever grease them?I grease them once in a while with a needle pin.I don't no if it helps or not.

They're a sealed unit, no reason to grease, if you've had them on there long enough for the grease to break down, just replace them.

heres 2 out of the three i broke last year, the first one was in first gear, the second one just snapped, the first one i clipped a tree but not that hard, dont know if id blame the elkas or houser, but its a safe bet ill never buy either brand again....

Looks like you have the recreational series housers on there. They're known to break a lot in racing conditions.

Housers' racing arms have a heavier duty ball joint on the bottom. The top ones (silcast) even have an super strong integrated lower ball joint.
