14/38 is what we use. But if you truely are looking for top speed only, then a larger front, smaller rear is what you want.
Say a 15/36, but you get hurt on acceleration as compared to a 14/38. It's all a trade off, where do you want your power, during acceleration and not so much top speed or do you want a lack of acceleration but more top speed?

I like the 14/38 combo myself, excellent on the MX track, great acceleration and plenty of top speed but it all depends on where you ride. Are you talking drags, dune riding, MX, cross country, etc.

Keep in mind you can also choose a different cam to "move" your power as well. I'm running the HCIII which gives better top end performance, but I also have a 14:1 piston, shaved head and running race gas, so I have plenty of power everywhere.

If your not sure, just go with a 14/38 combo, it's hard to beat!

If you are riding in the trails I would stick with the 13 tooth front 14 a little hight I think.stock gearing on an 06,07 is good . I ride realy tight trails I put a 12 tooth on the front top speed is not important to me. I like the pull in all the gears...

I ride trails and have a 12 up front. My motor has mods also I tried a 13 but it was sluggish.

The 12 will give you arm ripping acelleration and plenty of speed.
