hotcam w/highcomp piston

I am thinking about getting a hot cam i know the stg 1 gives you low to mid range power and the stg 2 gives you mid to top i heard that if you get a high comp piston that youll gain the bottom end as well with the stg 2 if so what compresion ratio piston should i get and if i do the piston i have to run a higher octane fuel correct?

I helped a buddy build a stock bore 12.25:1 using a CP piston and a Stage 2 hot cam. With the stock head, it had a TON of low and midrange and good top. Once we had the head ported by a good shop, it gained a ton of topend. I wouldn't bother with the stage 1 cam myself, go right for the stage 2.

I ran a stage 1 for a while and liked it a lot. The fuel you run will depend on a few things, you dont have to run high octane if you keep the compression somewhat low. I would say anything 12:1 and under you SHOULD be safe with premium pump, but all motors are different. Good jetting will be key to making sure pump works efficiently in your motor.
