with the mods i have listed below can anyone tell me what my valve gap should be? lets say im in 4th gear not at a high rpm but not at a low rpm ethier. than i gas it than it will start to tick and than the more gas i give it the louder it ticks? help please. if anyone could tell me the process of doing this also i would appretiate it very much.

same as stock. hot cams recommends .005" for the intake and .006" for the exhuast. or .12 mm and .13 mm, same difference.

when was your timing chain and tensioner replaced? your chain may be stretched or your tensioner may be bad. i would replace both if it has not ever been done.

Is it kind of an irregular clattering sound? Does it get worse when the engine is really hot vs. just barely warmed up?

that might be a fuel problem actually....if your burning cheap gas...87 or 89 it will do it...if your running that ish try running a 93/race gas mix see what you get

its a metal on metal tick soundand it seemed to do it less the longer i rode. but its still there

i run 93 or a mix of 92 and 110, 50\50 mix

i have never replaced any of those but i just got back from getting a high comp piston and cam put in and my guy told me everthing is great shape. i know its a 2001 but i never rode it until last fall, it just sat before that. thats why my valve seals went bad.

well i would still replace the cam chain just to be safe. plus it is cheap, a $30 part if you buy a CRF chain to put in it.

put a chain on that thing quick :eek2: :eek2: check your tensioner see if its still hard to push. prolly need both on an 01
