well i am gonna be ordering up a frame in a few weeks here and i need to know which route i am taking. in the future i am gonna switch to long travel hermann a arms and a new hermann swingarm but i havent heard anything about there chassis. ive read alot of old archives on the arens 250r chassis being the best, but i dont want to wait forever for a frame. so my questions are:

which one is a better chassis for the money?
how much is the hermann chassis?
how much wait is there on a hermann and a arens frame?
and do either of them come with any kind of a warranty?

Well. my friend got his Arens (brand new) from Columbia Motorsports for $1500 shipped. Waited about 2 weeks for it. Not sure about Warranty....Herrmann's are $2450 I believe. I emailed them once about it. Havent heard much bout their replacement frames. You might also look into Predator frames (PRD) theyre exact Laeger specs. Narrow frame and CR500 linkage..

Walsh. :blah I would say Herrmann if everything else is gonna be Herrmann. Or you could wait for Houser to make their 250r Frame.

go arens

walsh is a 12 month wait.

A guy i race with has had bad luck with his herrmenn stuff, but i don't think hes had trouble with the frame yet.

arens i would still say is your best bet.

I would say go with arens if the wait isnt bad if the wait is long get a herrmann. I know arens is great but i think the herrmann also look like a great frame.

Call Brad Herrmann. The dude is sharp, and has integrity and will treat you right. I think his work is unparralled.

Either one will work. Arens should be real easy to get.

I agree with mxbubs herrmann is top notch. I think he wants 2400 for his frames. I dont know if his frame is going to be $600 better then arens.

of course its top notch, thats what he's got. he's not going to say its junk.
i may be wrong but i dont even think his bike is done yet.
but.....stuff really hasnt been proven yet,.......... in my opinion.

I had an Arens. It was good. I would say look at frontline. A lot of guys at the nationals had them. They are 2100. They were in the dirtwheels when they had a frame shootout. The guy had a laeger a roll frame and an arens and combines all of their best features into one frame. Very good quality and it has been proven. There were about 15-25 bikes with them at the nationals

I just got off the phone with a buddy of mine that has been running an Arens frame for 3 years. He said it is in the process as getting 9 cracks welded. God as my witness.

yep I've heard of an arens frame developing cracks but The only two aftermarket frames around me are arens. Apartently all aftermarket frames will develop cracks over time because they are very rigid in design so they will crack more often due to less chassis flex. Arens is a good frame for a good price because they are made by machine. Leagers may be better but they are way more money. and lonestar. From all the things i've heard don't buy lonestar chassis products. oo yea arens is a short wait to.

you give me ANY frame and i guarantee in the 3 years i can crack it in a bunch of places too.

QuadRacer041
10-24-2002, 10:38 AM
also arens has only receintly started making there frames by machine, thats why the wait time is so short now, he used to make them by hand.
i ordered mine last sept and didnt get it till april.

I can agree with that. But some will last better than others.

QuadRacer041

nahh, i think they are just as good. im sure he switched to a machine cause he couldnt keep up with the demand for his frames.i would think that they are even better now with the machine.

in a different post someone said the arens 400ex frame are 1300 y are the 250r frames more?

Dave400ex

In the ATV Sport Arens said now that the Frames are done by Machine the quality of the product is higher because it is the exact same unlike before when one could of been done really well and one not so well.

You could also check out PRP Chassis....K&K Sellem i think...

LOL Ask quad 041 about Gibson,I think he stands behind thereproduct real well :o

Also, you could maybe check out a LRD Aluminum......

Oh also, about Aren's frames getting cracks....Well I am sure most frames will crack after 3yrs of hard riding, unless it was solid steel. Heck they don't call Aren's the Million Mile frame for nothing......

Also, you could check out Fischer Cycles frames...He does a good job I hear, and makes em real sturdy..Contanct Legacy ATV about them frames....www.legacyatv.com

I know 041's frame was totally screw up, but still i would not say gibson sucks. I have seen loads of gibons products when i was down at ECATV and all of them were top notch quality. There parts as as good as houser, laeger, herrmann, walsh etc.

i like gibson, and u cant really say they suck because of one part, my cranks blow up all the time, my bike dont suck, people blow out TCS, they dont suck, ect

Well Bean, If ya never said anything sucked, nothing would be good.
So I'd say they have some sucky characteristics (sp?).

well of course east coast hads loads of there stuff, gibson, east coast and k&k all work together to sell gibson. and i dont care how good people say they are i think they suck, no one should have ever let that frame go out in the condition i got it in!!!!!!!!
and no way it happened in shipping, if it did i hate to see what would happen when i jumped it 80ft.
