Can the 700r beat a 450r? Drag racing?? Hill Climbing? It depends. My 250r is by no means a drag bike, or hill shooter, but I can walk all over 04-05 450r's (piped and jetted) draging up hills. With my buddy's 06 450r is LRD tuned with Lrd exhaust, they are about dead even until I hit 6th gear and he hits 5th, then I pull him. I raced a bone stock 700 raptor last weekend up a pretty mellow hill time and time again. He pulled me so hard in 1st and 2nd that I couldnt catch him by the end. (4th gear) I would say in a straight drag, I could start pulling on him in 5th, then take him in 6th. But big deal, those raptors are awesome out of the hole!! other than racing like that, its all about the rider

but you wouldnt think with 686cc it should smoke a 450r, and 250r? I just dont understand how it doesnt happen with all those cubic centimeters. they are fast, but should be way faster in my opinion.

700S ONLY REV TO ABOUT 6800 VS 10K PLUS RPMS FOR 450S. PULLING A GEAR LONGER USUALLY WILL OUT RUN PULLING A GEAR HARDER. 700 HAS A HUGE AMOUNT OF TORQUE, BUT OVER A SHORT RPM RANGE. GO TO HMF WEBSITE AND COMPARE DYNO CHARTS.

700 MAY TAKE A 450 IF YOU SHORT SHIFT THE HELL OUT OF IT

I drag race my 700 at a local track abotu once a month and i have no problems beating stockl 450s. I usually beat them by atleast 2-3 bikes in 300 feet. However i was walked down by a built 450 last weekend. i got teh whoel shot, and about 250 feet he passed me like i was standing still. he had a cam/piston/headwork. Im stock with the big 3, no internals YET! Same holds true for YFZ's, but usually its alot closer than with teh hondas.

i'm running the big 3 plus a 15t front sprocket and i walk all over piped 450's. i ran a built yfz from a roll and he had me by a bike and a half until i hit 5th and passed him. after the race was over he said "top end on that thing is hell" :D

06 450r piped will beat a piped 700 add a cam to the Honda and it will pull away fast. As for the 04/05 R with cam and good pipe it too will beat beat a piped 700. The 700 raptors that Ive raced are slow compared to my 450's. Last weekend there was a drag race at ski sawmill a race up the ski slope. I beat piped 700's all day long. Im not on the Raptor forum tryin to bash just tellin you my personal experience. By the way the slope was 900ft and I beat them rapturds by at least 3-4 bike lengths.

My old mans raptor with a full HMF exhaust, Dobeck TFI module, Pro-flo intake and 15t front sprocket walks all over 450's.

I race it most of the time, and ive beaten 65 horse banshees.

Usually its even until i hit 4th, but i do leave in 3rd...put it on the rev limiter and dump it while sitting on the gas tank...:p :devil:

Its one hell of a ride, thats for sure...:eek2:

A modded Raptor 700 will deff. beat a 450r, dependding on what the 450r has in it.

i disagree tht 450r would kill a 700, 700 doesnt have good compression 450r=11.1to1
700=9.2to1

the only 450 i've lost to was one with all stage 2 stuff on it... stock for stock i beat every 450 i ran against.... this was on georgia red clay not sand btw

Agreed. I have a hard time beating 450's/raptors out the whole. It's basicly catch up every race. They seem to fall flat on power after 3rd gear though. The 4 strokes are awesome in the loose stuff, they hook much better than 250r's and banshees.

drag races have tons of factors and imo the biggest is the rider.

As in all bike "a" vs bike "b", just race and find out. There's always someone faster.

when my 525 was stock i would win by like 1 bike the 525 would pull a little bit harder after 1st and we only got to 4th gear. now i have a hmf pipe jd jet kit and k&n filter . and i went riding with a 700 this weekend with controller pipe filter and i didnt race him but the guys that i would beat by like 3 or 4 he would beat by like 1 or 2. id say i prolly would beat him by like mabye 1 or 2.

I raced a stock 700 on my stock 525 IRS and beat him by 2 bikes or so,then my cuz modded the 700 and beat me by 2 bikes.I have since piped jetted,intake,front sprocket and the 700 doesnt even come close.
