You need to bore the sleeve w/in about .002" of the finish size (may be done with the honing machine and a rough/diamond stone). Then you finish the bore to obtain the correct size, surface roughness, and pattern that the piston/rings require. The initial boring of the jug, prior to installing the liner, will probably be done with a boring bar in a lathe or miller. The sleeves don't come finished and ready to run, since pistons are different sizes, and installation also distorts the sleeve etc... The machine shop will also have to machine the top of the sleeve and cylinder jug flush (a.k.a. deck it). At that time you can make some small adjustments to the compression if you need. I would think the price would be around $100-150 for cylinder prep only.

Yea what Mike said. Different shops charge different. I think I paid about $80 to get mine done. I also did it during a slow time for the shop.
