if by desert you mean dunes, it handles really good. But you just need to change for a bigger tire

couple of different things. First change the tires, but dont go to big depending on your nerf bars because they wont fit. Second change your sproket size to make up for the gear changes. Skid plates are a most and invest in a stabilizer. hope this helps

He means if you put bigger rear tires on you could change the sprockets to compensate but you might want it to be faster for desert racing anyway....

They run the red machines because they have been real succesful in the baja. Like I said 20's might be the max size tire you may be able to run. ITP xct are real nice tires thats what I run. They are 6ply and you can run them flat if you need too.

I put 20's on mine and it's FAST now like it seems tall but I kinda like how the gearing is right now it's good for the type of racing I'll be doing anyways (WORCS) but for desert these would be sweet bikes I think, just get a kick start kit and it'll eliminate any battery/electric start problems that could happen in the desert

ha yeah my YFZ is so done with racing lol but I'm really likin my LTR and I got some Fox Shox on it, I just gotta get em dialed in, I'm pretty sure I'll be at that Washington race in Riverdale, how is that track??

Right on, hopefully the Suzuki will treat you a little better, lol.

Riverdale sounds like a good track. I've personally never been there, but my teammates say that its extremely ashy, nothin but ash. Because it's about 20 miles from Mt. St. Helens. From what i've seen, the MX looks pretty good. Some bigger tables, and more doubles then we usually deal with. Unless Sean changes it for the quads.

Hopefully i'll be able to adapt to the trees....i'll probably plow a few of them, haha.

I mainly ride in the Arizona desert and the LTR handles very well. With the extra width, she plows around corders...
Like mentioned above, you MUST get bigger tires and rims. I went with GNCC tire for the desert.

My setup for off-road & desert racing: Elka Elite; Elka S5 damper; HiPer/Razr2 wheels (20"r & 22"f); Flexx bars; IMS tank and dont forget the skid plates!! Depending on the terain - slower more tecnical track 13T sprocket, faster more open terain 14T (stock).

The rest is stock. Engine only CB & TFI controller (+12HP from stock). I ride with a twist throttle for our races are allday races over 2 or 3 days (20hours of riding), much like your Baja.
