with this being your first bike i wouldnt get anything above the gixxer 750. The 750 imo is the perfect bike, its definatly got balls and a little bit more room the the 600, or it feels that way to me...

First bike ... I wouldn't get a Supersport. Get something like and SV650 or GS500F. You'll be around longer. Take the MSF too.

Supersports are stupid fast and geared insanely tall. This makes in town driving, and basically anything under 50 mph, a real chore and a lot of clutch work. Remember these are RACE bikes. Its like giving you a 450r on a track and telling you to keep it under 20mph. Its just not gonna happen.

FYI, the 600's do about 70 mph in first gear at redline. Likewise the 1000's do over 100mph in first gear. Yes, its geared that high ....

I've been more than satisfied with my 07 r6. I personally think they look the best and are the best bike this year... research them.

I have also been looking at bikes, and I am a fan of the Yamaha FZ-6. It seems to me like it would be a much better bike to start out on. Its still a sport bike, but its a little more upright. Its looks more comfortable. I have seen them selling used for about $4000-$5000 in really nice condition. I think used would be the best way to go for your first bike.

i was always told it was all about comfort if your not comfortable on the bike what the point in having it but ya i under stand about the gearing and the speed and that really wasnt the purpose in the bike at all, ya then again everyone says that and ends up doing it anyways, but anyone have the r1 raven that thing is a beast they say it gonna pull bike of the year this year

just remember...there are only 2 types of riders..those that have been down...and those that are gonna go down... i wouldnt buy a brand new bike for your first bike....atleat not a 1000..i'd pick up something in the 600 range....a 600 is more bike than you will ever handle....and if you can out ride a 600...you should be riding with the superbike guys.

I have a couple bikes over the last few years. Please don't get a liter as your first bike. LEARN how to ride first. The R6 is tiny. Look into the Kawi 636, it has more room.

I would get the gsxr750 or the cbr600 they are the most comfortable to me. just go out and try to ride as many as you can and get what you like best.

750 is a great bike...i had one for about 4 years...i wish i never got rid of it...make sure to get used to the bike before you start putting it through its paces...good luck! and always wear protection...i always rode with gloves, jacket and boots...sometimes even my race pants.
