Well tomorrow is the day that we get to see the finished product, to pull all that we have learned so far together and show us the newest and most advanced sport ATV that has come along in years!!!

Hope the specs cover all the measurements, weight, capacities etc....

I have not been riding in soooooo long, I can't wait till these are available so I can get back to my love of riding!!

Whenever they are released, yeah, I'll be at the local Can-Am dealer with cash in hand.

Even if the motor was equal to the rest, the chassis more than makes up for it.

That said, I can't imagine the powerplant on this machine will be anything less than as stellar as what they have shown so far...

Tomorrow night will complete the validation for me waiting till everyone has their cards on the table.

Sure the KTM 525 is nice, and had Can-Am not gone to all this effort, I might have leaned more towards KTM.

Not now!!!:D

I will prob go with ktm.... but it will be KTM's first quad, but it is BRP's first 450...

I think there is a reason why BRP has waited til the last minute to unveil the motor. BRP has done great with there snowmobile motors bring alot of technology to the market using many different variations of motors, and I don't think that this Can Am DS will be any exception.

I am expecting to see 43-48 HP stock, with a pretty refined EFI system.... I may be off, but I've been around BRP products for years and know what they are capable of...

Fireball anyone?
I dont know.. but I really don't want magnesium anywhere near my combution chamber.. lol. Have you ever seen magnesium burn? It's not pretty.. lol. That's why they use it for covers. ;)

Edit: Did some research. It appears that porshe and a few other have a high temp mag alloy that can be used for engine blocks.

That would be pretty sweet.

Yeah, plus the fact that coolant eats at magnesium...

Aye, you'd definatly have to run magnesium safe coolant. Can't run the normal stuff.

If you go to their regular web site you can see the engine and it gives a small discription.

I thought this thing was going to be much much better in the engine department than it is. Not saying its bad I just expected a little more. And yall are right it is the worst looking quad out IMO.

I don't know it this is a typo, but in the specs it states that it has a solid rear axle. I thought in one of the videos they said it has a hollow rear axle? Now I wonder how much this thing is going to cost. Can't wait to see one in person.

I think they mean like a solid axle instead of independant suspension.

OutlawBill

MX race set up looks just as heavy as any other 450. thew stock quad is only 345 LBS just 5 LBS lighter than the Yamaha

if they made this with a steel frame like the yfz a non hollow axle and steel lower a arms this thing wuld be a absolute tank

mickey400ex

Are you guys serious? Just 5 lbs. lighter than the yamaha which doesn't have FI. It's also 9% more powerful than the Honda. Come on. Can Am just upped the bar in this class.

DEVINF450R

I am gonna agree...5lbs lighter, with all if not more of that weight saved in the holow axle and aluminum a-arms that HAVE to be replaced by guys who actually NEED the weight savings.... us MXers. if it was 48 or 49inches wide I would be impressed (and they have a lifetime guarantee on the axle and a-arms). plus the radiator is not in the spot I would have placed it.... it belongs BEHIND the steering stem. too vulnerable up there

As shown in the Epic video, Cam Am does have a mx axle for the 450.

I have to admit, if I hadn't already bought my LTR 3 months ago, I'd be considering this... But now, since I love my LTR, I'll be waiting to see what KTM throws out there as well. I'll just have to con a friend into buying one of these... ha.

Might want to know a bit about things before you say stuff.

Carburetor - Just the carb itself. Yeah, lots of needles, jets, slides, etc......but, not much to it, including weight.

Fuel Injection - Throttle body, injectors, computer(usually much larger then the CDI on other bikes), wiring harness(also much larger, and more intricate then other bikes), fuel pump, fuel pressure regulator, more sensors, etc. etc........A lot more stuff to it, including weight

ahh now theres one more reason why i dont like FI if its really so great why don't the dirtbikes have it ? hmmm ... cuz its just a gimic to charge more

In two years all MX bikes will be FI, they are racing them in Japan now(prototypes).

This motor should last a lot longer than others because my friends aprilla mille motor has 5,000 miles of race time on it with no repairs.

This should be the bike to beat IMO!

Stock Honda axles are hollow and have been for many years!

For one, many manufactures have been testing EFI on the bikes for quite a while now.

Also, dude, you ride a 250EX "with no airbox lid"....therefore, you have no idea what your talking about when it comes to high performance......Not bashing you, or your bike, it's cool that your out there, and riding.....but you can't know much about high performance.....and it shows in your posts.

Once you ride a high performance bike thats carburated, and a high performance bike that is fuel injected, and have a working knowledge of how each works, and performs....you'll understand. Until then, you will be clueless.
