I just finished up my install on my quad. I put on an HMF sport series slip on, K & N with condom and rejetted to 155/42. I just took it out on its maiden voyage and holy S$%^!!! This thing is insanely loud and pulls really hard. I couldnt be more pleased

you running with the lid on or off?

if you choose to run with it off i suggest an EHS racing air box lid i got some pretty good gains in throttle response by putting one on mine.

the kit to mod your stock lid is like $55 the whole set up with a new lid already modded is $80.

besides it sounds wicked when you open the throttle up.

im running with the lid on. I just got back from tuning and it looks like im running a bit rich. The very tip of the electrode is white but the rest is sooty. Should I bump down to a 152? Also how long do you need to be at WOT to get an accurate result? Thanks!

Right in the range of a 152K/155K is where you need to be with the lid on. Altitude and riding temperature are factors to consider. Put a 152 in and plug check it.

lose the lid, its killing the power.

i would lose the lid but i ride through a lot of mud and deeper water. The last thing i need is a fresh water intake :eek2:

i bought the complete lid kit from EHS Racing so i could keep my stock lid on hand in case it starts raining then i can pop the stock lid on and go.

also i left the snorkel on in case i need to put the stock lid back on.

Get the engine warm, put in new plug, start engine, run it up to 3-4 gear at WOT and hold it for about 5-10 seconds(with engine under load) pull in clutch, stay on throttle, shutengine off, coast to a stop, get off pull plug, put another plug in and start her up , go back to shop and cut threads off plug. at the base of the porcelien (sp) is where you will see if it's jetted right, It will be a brownish to brownish/grey there.

the way i do it is i just listen to it at full throttle. if it cuts out and makes a popping sound it's lean. if it boggs it's rich. i also check the plug as well if i'm close, meaning if it doesn't bogg or pop.

ok so my buddy and i took it out today. He has a circle horse racing track that works really well. I went mobbing around it at least 5 times at 3/4 to WOT. The 152 is too lean and the 155 main is a bit on the rich side. It doesnt pop or bog on either. Now do I need to adjust the needle or air/fuel screw to make a minute adjustment?

if it runs pretty close to the same with the 152 and the 155 jet. myself i would rather be a tad on the rich side.

when all i had done to mine was pipe and air filter, i put the 155 main in mine and ran with it. if it runs good where your at i wouldn't change a thing.

lean runs hotter and you make more power

yes is does make more power to a certain extent. hotter yes as well but it also puts more wear and tear on engine components such as piston rings and valves. that's why i prefer to run just a tad rich.

thats what i was thinking. Do you think the 42 pilot could be making the difference? I took it out riding for 4 hours today and it did great. Im thinking of maybe changing down to a 40 pilot and seeing what happens

i put a 42 in mine at 2 turns out and it flooded up even with the open air box lid i have on. i put a 40 in it at 2 turns and it ran but was still a bit on the rich side (a little richer than i like) so i think i'm gonna go to like 1 3/4 or 1/12 turns out.

of course your altitude may let yours run fine with a 42.

the only way is trial and error my friend. lol. that's how i learned.:D
