I hear they are somewhat heavy for a mini at 8.5 lbs a piece. I am NOT knocking them at all. I have not seen or tried any of them myself. I will be though.

I see they're 10" wide as well. I thought they were going to be close to the snowhogs width.

I will be finding out more on weight soon.
They will be heavier than a snowhog becuase they are an 18 inch tire, but just speculating will be lighter than a few of the other 18's on the market..Maxxis new there wasnt much for the mini market and done some research to come up with these designs.
Ill have more info in depth for the review.;)

The 18 inch comes in two dif. sizes, we will be reviewing both. They are the 18X6.5-8 and 18X10-8

The ones pictured are the bigger ones geared more towards the Hybrids-which they will be tested on.The other version that is not as wide of a tire will be reviewed on a CVT mini -both will be fully fitted front and rear .

The tires are more geared towards your kids who need more ground clearance and can also be ran on the big quads for MX as well.

The smaller version (a 6.5)we should be getting sometime this week hopefully and Ill have pics of them mounted soon.

Mike are you sure you are getting 8.5's ? I see on there website they are only listing 6.5's or 10's.

The tires do seem heavy at least compared to the listed weight on their web page. Razr MX fronts only weigh 8# compared to the razr cross at 9.7. I'm interested in how they handle.

Keep in mind these are a 20 inch tire.
I read them weighing in a 8-9lbs.depending on compound.
http://www.maxxis.com/products/atv/product_detail.asp?id=210

There is a 1 lb. front tire difference from the 19 inch and the 20 inch front Cross tires

http://www.maxxis.com/products/atv/product_detail.asp?id=210

We currently run the stock LT450 radials on our Hybrid and holeshot rears.
Anyone know the weights on both those tires?

Correct if you compare the 20X6X10 Razr cross front with the with the same size Razr MX tire. There is a 1.7lb per tire difference.

20X6X10 Razr MX 8.0lbs
20X6X10 Razr Cross 9.7lbs
20X6X10 ITP Holeshot MXR6 8.9lbs
20X6X10 Razr IMX 8.7lbs

18X10X8 Razr MX 11.0lbs
18X10X8 Razr Cross 11.4lbs
18X10X8 ITP Holeshot MXR6 11.4lbs
19X10X9 ITP Holeshot MXR4 11.1lbs
18X10X9 Razr IMX 11.8lbs

These are the listed weight on the web pages. In comparison the cross tires are a heavier tire. Even the IMX tires which are a radial tire are lighter. The radials are generally a heavier tire but give a more confortable ride.

In general not all manufacture's list their tire weights. Maxxis and ITP do. Kenda doesn't but they are really good about responding via email if you ask them concerning a specific tire.

I'm excited to hear some input on these new tires. Good luck with your review.

Thanks ,were excited to try them too.

I was told by a rep. for Maxxis that they were not fully aware of just how serious this market is becoming for the mini atv parents and riders/racers -until now. I wouldnt be surprised if you see more on the drawing boards for more added tires to the line up( that was also mentioned)
I personally think a 2 ply tire might be a good thing to add for those who dont want the added weight and where a 2 ply tire will be more than enough for most applications. We love the tread design ,they remind somewhat of a tamer and tamers work great on most of the terrian wer run at home.
For the more offroad racing minis who need a bigger tire, the new Cross should fit right up there.Being a slight bit more narrow , Im excited to see how the 6.5's work as we already use the fullsized 18 inch tires for offroad racing.

Well, we got the one set mounted on the Hybrid and the fronts on the CVT...
To be perfectily honest, they didnt feel heavy in hand compared to what they run now,and the tread pattern is sooooo sweet:devil:

Ill post up some pics shortly.

Hey Tina,

Can you do a depth measurement on the lugs please? They don't look as deep as the hogs, just curious how they compare with them.

Thanks

We now have all the tires in,Im just waiting on the wheels to arrive.

We measured the lug...
Same size as the hogs.Used a caliper to measure so its an accurate measurment.

My camera is having some issues,so the pics are not the best today(very dirty after wk end! lol)
But this gives you an idea what they look like mounted.
I will have more pics on the Hybrid once its back from the quad Dr.this evening .lol

Brandon likes to use Klaws over the holeshots, there was a noticable weight difference between these and theklaws-and that was even after upgrading to a .160 wheel.
I think these tires are going to be a success and I love the added clearance for offroad racing.
We will find out this wk end!

Looks like a sweet tire.
are you saying that they weigh more than the
snowhogs/holeshots??

They look great! Plus thats one good looking mini.

QuadJunkies
06-12-2007, 12:29 PM
Maybe I should start over on this ..... lol :p

These tires (front and rear)are a larger/taller tire than the snowhogs. They are geared more towards the kids who need MORE ground clearance. So yes, they will weigh slightly more. They are also a stronger ply tire for added durabilityfor all the rocks and XC riders know what Im talkin about Im sure!
The snowhogs dont have alot of ground clearance for offroad ,for mx they work great!
The tread pattern is what I like .
We have the larger tires on the Hybrid,Ill post those as well tomorrow.

Quadjunkies,

The tires look awesome!!! I'm interested to see how they handle on the minis and how well the hold up.

Does the actual tire measurements differ from the stated measurements?

Not on the rear, the rear measure true to size.
But on the front they were about 19 3/4 ;)
