View Full Version : can you use a stroker crank with a different piston?

just like the subject, can i buy just a stroker crank, without buying the piston that they sell with it, and put it in a 426 or somthin???? just getting ideas for rebuilding a stock engine let me know.. thanks

well yes and no. the special stroker piston has the wrist pin hole moved up 2mm to accomidate for the longer stroke. so you have to have the special piston to make it work. BUT TC racing makes a 2mm shorter rod, to allow you to use any piston with the stroker crank. so you either have to use thier special piston, or but a new rod and have it installed on the stroker crank.


or a third option it you can have a piston custom made any size you want like a 416 or 426. no matter what, it will cost you though.

my buddy had a custom made JE piston. but JE, ross, or a few other places will make you a piston, but they all have a minimum order of 4 pistons.
i will try to get a link on the rod

alright how much did that piston from JE run him? pretty expensive im guessin?

a set of 4 is like $764 i think. about $190 per piston. luckily he found a guy on the site that did it and had spares, so he bought two of his, but when we were looking at buying new ones, that was the price.

and powroll makes the 2mm shorter rod, called teh tough rod. they did not list it on their site, but if you contact them you could probably buy one from them.
