got the new motor in and running good. couple of questions. i have a 12 to 1 wiseco piston, web stage 2 cam and high dollar port job. should i run race gas, figured i should since the motor is air cooled. right now i am mixing 3 gallons 111 race gas to 2 gallons regular. also since i put the new motor together it has a sputter at about 1/4 throttle. after that it screams. i am running a stock 400ex carb with 142 main and 40 pilot and needle in stock position. i am at about 100 ft elevation. my son raced it last weekend. he has to run beginner class locally with all 450's. he beat 2 out of the gate and caught the other 2 by the first corner.

did you run that carb before? you may need a richer pilot with the cam and porting. try cracking the choke while its sputtering and see what it does.

thats awesome with the start, i'm sure the others were like

you probably should run race gas with that 12:1 piston. it'd be for the better.

You prolly don't need race gas but you can run it if you want.

And run half and half, thats wut everyone around here does, and I mean everyone cuz I filled up their cans at one point in town, 1 gal 93 1 gal 110.

I'd go up 2 on your pilot to a 42.
