im trying to make a motorized barstool. i have a engine for it but it is a vrtical shaft. my question is can i turn this motor on it side to use it or will it die. thanx

Just use a lawn mower pulley and let it be belt driven. Then let the belt twist....if that doesnt work, then idk what to tell you.

I dont think it will run...more than likely just die out..

no it won't run on it's side.

liek he said, the easiest way is to twist the belt or get a side shaft motor.
