ok i adj my chain lubed it and when i put around in my drive way first gear not givng it throttle i can hear a knocking griding sort of sound.the sound its making sounds like when the chain is hitting the skid plate, its coming from the rear end. i took my rear skid off and case saver so i no its not rubbing on that. any ideas on what this may be?

it could be the chain rubbing on the black chain guide or whatever its called up by the front sprocket

Ya know, every now and again I hear a noise from my carrier too, but I just rebuilt it.

The only thing I can think of is the brake disk and caliper mount making some noise.

Yep mine was doing that... I was riding in 1st gear in a circle looking for all possible revenues. Ended up being my bearings in my bearing carrier; replaced them and all is good now. More than likely this is what it is... And more than likely since yours is an '04 like mine they probably just went out too.
