I'm looking for a stage 3 hotcam and a 416 piston, I have a stock cam, hotcam stage 2, and a weisco 11:1 piston I would be willing to trade with. I will also pay cash.

I'm looking for the higher compression piston. Is it 12.5:1 or is it 11:1?

yes i think it is 12.1 but i know for sure it was NOT 10.1 or lower

Thanks for the offer but I think I want to stay with the wiesco pistons. Thanks again.

do some research before you make that decision

There is nothing wrong with a JE piston.

for a 416 the je piston is better IMO!!!

yes je is a good piston, but if you already have a 416 kit that is wiseco then you would be better to get a wiseco. i had a je piston in my 440 and bought a wiseco and they were about 2mm different sizes. so you may want to make sure they are the same size

I'm sure the JE pistons are really good but I'm 25 years old and I've been building 2 and 4 stroke engines since I can remember with wiesco pistons. I know JE is a good name but it just one of those preference things. Thanks again.

Ok, I'm eating my words here. Wiseco does not make a 12:1 comp. 416 piston only J E. I guess no use in being stupid unless you show it right. Anyway, if you could find out for sure that the piston is 12:1 I would take that deal. Get back to me. Thanks

I've got a Sparks 416 piston, 12.5:1 comp ratio, used for less than 3 hrs, I would get new rings.

What kind of cam did you use with this piston, any changes in timing? Do I have to worry about valve clearances, I'm going to run a stage 3 HC. Also do I need to have HD studs? I also advance my timing with an MSD programmable ignition. What gaskets did you use? Cometic?

i checked yesterday any the JE is 12. 1

and yes i would use HD head studs, which i have.

and also a complete gasket kit

I was running the old stage II HC, I did not even finish break in with this piston.

As for HD head studs, they are never needed if your head studs can hold the torque (as Mickey Dunlap of Four Stroke Tech posted years ago), if you can not appy the torque to your stock studs, then yes you need them.

I would not suspect any clearance issues as I did not experience any, but if in doubt you can clay check it, on the 400ex it is simple.

You are advancing your ignition timing so clearance would not be an issue as I can see it, you are advancing or retarding the cam from what I am reading.

I advance between 2500 and 5000 up to 29deg. then at 7500 I retard the timing to around 26 deg. Yea, I've done a clay check before just thought you might have done it already. Why are you getting rid of this piston and how did you get the carbon off?

There was hardly any carbon on there, what little there was I took off with carb cleaner.

I am getting rid of it as I no longer have a 400EX anymore, if I did, I would definitely be running it!
