probably the only con to a trx250r is the stock motor hp output, all the rest kill it. Thats not hard to solve though. The suzuki feels more comfortable to ride, but is less reilable and kinda hard to get parts for. Go for a honda trx250r, 86 is the strongest frame and has the best foot peg placement(in my opionion and many others), I do like the 88/89 having a shorter swingarm. If you get a 86/87, put a -1 swingarm on and +1(forward) a-arms. If you get a 88/89, +1 forward a-arms and Ac blackline nerfs, they return the peg placement to a 86/87.

Actually i was just looking around at different posts like this and i just realized. the z400 and the 400ex are very similar in a way but more modern of a comparison. the Z doesn't handle as good but has more power, like the LT 250r and the 400ex handle great and has TRX250r geometry a little less power. There are a few more parts for the 400ex like the TRX250r.

but anyway back on topic, yes the LT 250r has a little more speed than a TRX in stock form, but only certain years had a powervalve. The frames on the LT are known to be slightly fragile. Also some people say they do need a little more work. Now on the other hand the 250r has what some may say "the best handling quad designed" And there are a few things that are noticably different compared to the 85 and 86. As far as i know the 86 250r's have a longer swingarm and the best peg placement. I know theres alot more but I can't think of it right now.
