decompression device on the exhaust cam killing the starter has anyone herd of this. My starter is tost and I did a little research about it and came across this from a guy going through the same thing. Thanks guys

Yep....talked to someone a few days ago with the same problem.

He said something to the effect that the clearance on the cam shaft that opens the decomp was not correct and the starter was having to start the bike under full compression thus burning up the brushes in the starter motor.

He got new cams and solved the problem.

I think he said his original cams were at 12/1000 clearance. Suzuki said it should be at 15/1000 and the new cams he got were actually at 16/1000. I don't know if he was refering to metric or standard. Don't quote me on the clearances.
