I just rebuilt my engine 406 tc cam tc port job fmf headpipe hmf slip on I got it done it will start but wont stay runing veary long at all!!! not even long enough to rev it a little gas is pouring out of the 2 drain lines on the carb pretty bad float seems to be working the neddle has a little back and forth play in it. I think it wont start because all the gas leaking out?

it could have a groove worn in the little rubber tip of the needle seat. which will make the bowl fill up with too much fuel even if the float still moves.

its good! the needle looks good too do you think a rebuild kit would fix the prob??from the info I got from the search there are only a few things that would do this. i did check ever thing and it all looks good 3 day weekend :(

Sounds like the float needs to be adjusted.

I would get the rebuild kit and that might not even fix the problem if the seat is messed up. I don't think you can adjust the float on the 400:(

according to my Clymer book it says that the float cannot be adjusted.

the stock float height should be .73 inches from the flat plane in which the bowl bolts to the carb, to the highest point of the float.

if it's less than .73 it may cause it to overflow.

thanks guys there was a small slice in the gas line and it was leaking down the carb!

Sounds about right. It's usually the simplest thing, lol.
