We have been kicking the idea around of selling and buying a bigger place, and while we love WV, i cant say i dont like southern Ohio.

heck, the way the east coast is growing I wouldnt mind moving farther west.

any suggestions?

Other than sharing the roads with the amish (which you wouldn't have to worry about in southern OH) I like it here. There are plenty of places all over ohio where you can have your space and do whatever you want on it.

I live about 1 hr from the ohio line. From what I have heard the ohio cops (atleast state) like to pull you over for almost anything.

I do like ohios rodeos:D Other then that Its just like boring Indiana IMO.

Ohio isnt a bad place to live by any means. I do like ohio except for the fact that the tracks around here are banning quads slowly :grr:

Where abouts' are these places you're looking at?

I like living where I'm at, and there's plenty of good reasons to move from WV.

Oh, about the 45, we have open carry (along with concealed. If you have your CC permit, I'm sure it's good in Ohio too). :) Depending where the places are you're checking out, guns are usually very well accepted around here. Every once and awhile you'll scare a sheeple, but you'll have that these days. :D

Northern Ohio...don't bother. lol
Southern Ohio is nice though but there isn't much work. It's a bit flat compared to WV but not too bad in the southern parts. I think the cost of living is much higher than WV. Gas prices even seem higher as soon as you cross the Ohio River.:ermm: Honestly if I had my choice I'd take WV any day. It's getting much harder to find places to ride around here too. I know quite a few people that have had to leave the southern part of the state and move up north just to find work.

Well I live in Tuscarawas county which if anyone on here hunts in Ohio, its always topping the list for most kills. I live in a small town called Dennison and it is near five big lakes all within 25 min or less. Pappy check out counties like Tusc., Muskingum, Guernsey, Harrison, Belmont, and Jefferson if you are looking towards SE Ohio. Ohio has a lot of scenic country side and places to live if you know where to look. PM me if you have any other questions or want some help.

I personally go to WV to get away and get out in the boondocks!:ermm:

I have spent time in several states, as a child. Father build water towers, so we moved every 3-4 months. There is no place I would rather be than southern Ohio. Plenty of places to ride, hunt, or just kick back and relax. I would imagine these are the same things that a guy from WV would enjoy.

I live in the country, outside Chillicothe and work in Columbus, Ohio. It is like two different worlds.

Ohio is alright, if you don't mind complete weather changes every other day (though this past week has been nice :D).

From an ATV perspective, there are some things to consider:

Yes, many of Ohio's motocross tracks are banning quads. Ohio International Raceway in Portage County did so a few years ago. Scenic Highlands Raceway, a place that could arguably have hosted a national, banned them this year and I believe is up for sale. Spring Valley Raceway has drastically reduced the number of hours it opens the tracks to quads. It's getting harder to find places to ride here.

And as for ATV parts manufacturers, northeastern Ohio is actually the place to be. Some of the big names, like Baldwin Motorsports, ATV FourPlay, SuperTrapp, Wiseco, and a host of smaller shops like UpDogg and Tarantula Performance Racing, are in northeast Ohio.

Down south there is a lot of open land and nice spreads. But you would be removed from the aftermarket racing manufacturers, which I gather could be an issue for you, Pappy?

Ohio is Hi in the middle and round on both ends... (sorry, bugs bunny scarred me for life..)

my recent trips to the KY (LBL area)area have gotten me interested in moving there... probably wont though, unless something drastic happens..

lots of land for sale..not alot of work from my understanding..

if you go off the beaten path a bit, it almost seems like the backroads of england, but no thatched roofs..

I live In Paducah, about an hour north of LBL and there are about 2 tracks within 2 hours(w/o going to TN). Theres plenty of land to be ridden on but not many tracks altho TT is pretty big around here but the tracks we race at arnt strickly Dirtbike and Quad track only.

i dont know how their economy is but lower MI is getting real bad, im sure ohio isnt the best for economy either

you would be that much closer silver lake. I would say michigan is a great place to live (especially the west side of the state), but our economy sucks. Our super sweet economic plan by our glorious governor is is going to "amaze us in 5 years!" i love this state, great hunting, not bad weather, some good tracks, lots and lots of legal riding, good hunting and land for it, great fishing, and pretty affordable for the middle class worker if you stay out of the burbs and lakes. We have a lot of developing communities, so i have a feeling we will pretty much rebuild our own economy as it has happened in the passed. The new schooling system, i believe, is heading in the right direction. Overall i think michigan is a great place to live with lots of potential to be re-born, it just may take another election.

Dont move to ohio, nothing but buckeye fans and bad drivers

what developing communitys are there in MI??

Pretty sure it is going to take far more than an elected official can to to pull MI out of the dumps.

In truth it is going to take all the line workers to realize that $20+ hr jobs are going to be a thing of the past if they want to keep their jobs. They are driving the Big 3 out of business and taking the state of MI along with it. All I ever hear in MI is about how the economy suck and no one is making any money, but those same people b**ching are the uneducated people make 50k+ a year with mass amounts of disposable income. Now that they are loosing part of that disposable income they can't handle it.....

05-25-2007, 09:13 AM
its not just "uneducated" people not making any money. No one is making any money. The other day they just tore down a bridge they built for GM workers to cross the expressway, wont be needing that anymore. Its not like just 1 type of people arnt making any cash right now, everyone isnt. People are leaving the state by the thousands. Thousands of repoed homes in just my county alone. Home are up for sale 40-50% off and still are not selling. It getting seriously bad. Unemployment is at an all time high around my area. The other week my buddy car got his windows busted out because he had a lil bit of change in his cup holder. People dont understand how bad it is here untill you come and live here

Just want to make sure you see that I live in Flint.... so you don't have to tell me about how crappy things are.

this is getting pretty off topic.... but I think the lower educated work force is what is driving do much business out of MI, their belief that they should be provided for so well if just hurting themselves and everyone else. The UAW is f***** and will be doing nothing but driving the Big 3 under if they don't start looking at what it will take to help make their employers compeitive in the marketplace. Michigan's entire economy and very well the US economy will fail if even one of the big 3 go entirely under.

05-25-2007, 09:34 AM
i live in Flint also, east side, what side you from? Beleive me, i know just as much as you do about how crappy it is here. My sister does taxes on alot fo companys for Plane Moran and she said very very few business are making any money
