Should I go with a 474cc Stealth Big Bore from Max RPM or Port and Polish from Yoshi, the Big Bore is $560 and I beleive the Port and Polish is $500. Which one will I see more gains from, Dirt wheels used Max RPM's 498cc kit and got around 60 horse from it along with an exhaust and powercommander, would i gain 5 horse or so from the 474cc or what? and how much from port and polish?

or just get a piped YFZ... that would be about the same as a bored and ported LTR

lol...

Wow Insightful answer..

If you are looking for power definitely go for the big bore. It will put more power everywhere and it will be noticeable. Plus, when you are in there you can put a high compression piston, cams, etc. Remember though if reliability is a concern a big bore kit will hurt that and a port and polish will do very little to the reliability for the motor.

always remember this "There is no replacement for displacement."

ps 250r4life i used "no" right this time :)

i wasnt talking about another bike. but if you looking to do some stuff to go faster. there is nothing better than a bigbore after minor mods. plus the raptors have a huge topend but takes forever to get there.

dont mean to be a punk, but i dont agree...

there is a lot more that contributes to power and speed than purely displacement... even with the same bike...

if you asked me if i wanted to bold on a stock YFZ jug, bored to a 470, or just get some cams and a higher compression piston with some porting and polishing, i would take the the 2nd set up all day long...

what about a 535, you still need those other parts but your not going to make that much more power at stock bore

just by boring and adding more compression, you've in a sense made the stock ports into a port that flows more cfm's..

The gain over displacement and compression gain is larger than porting alone.

there are lots of contributing factors, as you know...

i personally, say on my 250r, would never go bigger than say a 310, just cuz the bigger you go the slower it revs and its more torque oriented...

a z400 bored to a 450 is not going to be as fast as a yfz...

A lot of it might depend on your riding style.

A port and polish will add peak horsepower, but the biggest gains you will see will be high revs. A port and polish is usually used ALONG with a big-bore kit to allow it to breath better. It can be used on the stock bore, also, and it will basically allow the engine to rev much higher (and build more power up high). It would have to be used with a high-rev CDI.

A big-bore will definitely add more power, but most of it will be down low, creating more torque and (generally) better acceleration. For most people building engines in stages, the first step is a big bore, then port/polish whenever they can afford it.

ok... i'm down any day of the week mod for mod...

we'll have to get a starting light or something so you actually stop and start with a fair jump, instead of youre rolling ****** starts you did last time...

obviously im not basing it on one race... ive raced countless...

this raptor 700 had a pipe, i just have the baffle out...
i dont want to hear the rider card, as GP is an excellent rider...
i had heavy sand stars, he had a lighter straight paddle...
and i have a few lbs on GP racer too i beleive...

Every video I have of us racing, has us at dead stops, you acting like your gonna go by shifting your weight, and even 2 of you jumping me before I even pull even.

Ill gladly race you again. And then when we get to the top you can try to keep following me, through the dunes. Stay tuned, Im building another bike, and it will be a real duner.

BTW...Every video also has me looking back at you. Better luck next time.

post those suckers up...

try to keep following you huh? i would have no problem following you through the dunes... whatsoever...

yah... i do recall you looking back... but i also recall you not being ahead by very much... i didnt have the best port job on my 250r at the time, and my buddy had a stock yfz with a slip on... if i recall you had a high comp piston, cams, haulers, and i dont remember what else, and we were right there behind you... you had a lot of money into that bike, so congrats, you won a race you should have won and had to jew us on the starts to make sure you did...

sweet... exactly... youre building another bike... im glad you do well on built bikes...

my bike is built too... by yamaha... thats a lot of the fun for me- beating people on a bike that shouldnt be beating them... i have the money for a pipe, but i like having that big black stock muffler to show people theyre getting smoked by a stock bike...

like i said- mod for mod i'll race you any time... and im not saying i'll smoke you, i know youre a good rider... im just saying you wont smoke me... i dont know as how there is, but there should be mutual respect between us...

I could care less what my bike had done or your bike didnt have.

Youre all about tooting your own horn about how you dont get beat and yadda yadda.

Truth is it DOES have a lot to do with the rider. Most of the 450s nowadays are so evenly matched that the rider is what makes the difference.

Keep talking Guy.

everybody gets beat...

i go down to the dunes with a basically stock bike, and get beat a couple times a weekend... you go down to the dunes with thousands of dollars into your bike, and also get beat a couple times a weekend...

youre right- A LOT has to do wiht the rider... so considering the paragraph above, what would that tell you

rider ability can only compensate so much when racing against a faster bike that doesnt have a complete idiot on it...

like i said- you go down to the dunes with your built bikes and win a majority of your races and feel good about it, and i'll go down wiht my stock bike and win a majority of my races, and still have thousands left over that stuck somewhere getting a return on my investment. however, money really has nothing to do with it, as i am fully capable of building an extremely fast bike... but where is the fun in that?

Sponsors had money in that bike. I raced it, hence the numbers if you couldnt tell.

Im done with you. You're the baddest out there.

Sorry to the thread starter.
