My little brother is 11 years old, 5'4'' and around 90 pounds. He used to have a raptor 80 but has grown out of it. I recently taught him how to use the clutch on my yfz and he can put around on it pretty good. im wondering what quad he should be looking at next. At first i was thinking about a 250ex, but im wondering if he would outgrow it really fast and want to move up to something faster with a clutch. What are your suggestions?

if he knows to control himself when riding and doesn't just full throttle it expecting it to control itself, then i'd say a 300 would be okay

At 90 lbs he won't have the weight to push/toss the quad around when needed. He would basically be along for the ride. I think the 250ex would be a better choice. It's not really any lighter but it doesn't have the more aggressive power the 300 does. My daughter is around that size (a little taller actually) and she fits perfectly on the 250ex and with a few mods it's plenty fast for a kid that age.

i think he would be just fine. he is going to grow really fast at 11 years old and you don't want to outgrown another one really quickly. i was on a 300ex when i was 10 and never looked back. at 90 lbs he is light...but i see plenty of 100-115 lb women on 450rs too.

id say 300 is a little big. 250ex will get him better feel with the weight of the bike, then couple of years bump him up to a 300. just my opinion.

if you just said he rides your yfz then a 300ex will be fine putting around ona yfz is making the same hp as using all the power in a 300ex lol besides i rode a blaster a 10 wit no problem ive ridden predators to and im only 13 ill be 14 in a few days

slower means safer and we all want the little guys be safe. i would with the 250 ex. you can always mod it.

what type of riding? Is it racing or trail or ??? My daughter is 13 and all of 90 or less. I put her into a 300ex as her race bike. She was on a 250r and not only was it not legal for the racing class apparantly there are legal issues with that bike as well. Go figure.

My take on it is nothing bigger than a 300. If he takes it easy and like the other post stated, doesnt just full throttle it around he should be fine. Remember SUPERVISION is the key here.

Good luck

i think i got my suzuki 230 when i was 10 and a 250x when i was 11 then a blaster then i was 12. i think he will be fine. just start him out slow.

Uh yeh, I'm pretty sure the 250ex wieghs more than the 300ex. So don't be sayin he doesn't wiegh enough, because if he wieghs enough for you guys to think he's "Perfect" for a 250, then he'll be "Plenty Fine" for a 300, trust me.

A 300 would be good for him especially if you trust him on your yfz.

My 12 year old stepson is on a 300EX. he is about the same size and he does fine. Keep an eye on him and he'll be fine. I keep mine to a very short leash and he does fine. Hell his 300 has 11:1 compression with a hot cams stage 1 in it and and he has improved riding it on just a couple rides.
