Hey guys, I have had quads all my life, but most of my friends ride dirtbikes, so I was thinking about getting a 125/250, any other quad guys out there that ride bikes too? I'd like to hear some opinions

I know a ton of riders that ride both, and the quad riders tell me it helps them by riding a bike.

I know Cody rides both. He is learning how to ride in the woods now

not at all.

last week went like this...

Sat. GNCC Ohio
Sun. Test and Tune at home
Mon. Test and Tune and 30 minutes on the 300ex
Tues. OFF
Wed. KTM85
Thur. TRX90 and KTM85
Fri. Last minute test on TRX90
Sat. Race in WV
Sun. Rest and 30 minutes on the TRX
Mon. TRX and KTM85
Tues. Shop clean up

Usually he rides 5 or 6 days a week, however the past few months have been nuts here and we havent been able to stay on schedule, due to him being injured and school work being intense. He has only recently started riding the KTM in the woods, usually its a few nights a week at Breezewood on the MX track. If he stays healthy then this is his normal riding schedule but we mix it up so it doesnt get boring.

As long as he is riding its all good, no matter if it has 2 or 4 wheels.

yeah, I only get to bring the 50 out and rip it up and down the street a couple times a week, I am lucky if I get to the track once everyother week, I cant wait till I get a truck, haha, thanks Pap, that line up sounds nuts, but awesome, lol

i've rode quads all my life and never rode a dirtbike until last year i rode a yz 250f. definitely not for me i just couldnt get used to the twist throttle and i dont know it was just really hard to go from a quad to a bike. so i just stick to racing quads:macho

I ride both. There's no reason you can't go back and forth between the two. I'll ride both in the same day all the time. Feels wierd for about 5 seconds and then it's all good.

I have a small 80 I would ride around for something diffrent. Ussually I would end up wrecking the 80 and hurt my slef. Now its blown up. I am prally the worst DB rider you will ever see.

I only own a quad, but I like to hop on my freinds kx250 when I get the chance. It's different and when I get back on my quad I feel like I go twice as fast since its lower than the kx.

I have ridden ATC's and quads all my life.Last year I rode a RM250 for the first time and fell in love.Riding a dirtbike is more fun and challenging.I plan on getting a CR250 in the next year.

depends on how much money you have. Maintaining two at one time isnt cheap, but if one is broken you can ride the other. The quad gods havent set any rules against owning both to my knowledge. If i had the money i would own both

I started on a bike, bought another bike, sold it,switched to a quad, then bought a bike. I kept the Quad tho.

I switch off from a TRX250R 2 stroke Quad to a CRF250F 4 stroke lol.

Its fun to have both of diffrent worlds, 250cc 2 stroke Quad and 250cc 4stroke Dirtbike

well the good thing is that bikes are a dime a dozen. starting out, you can get one that is a few years old and be more then happy, and you wont feel so bad when you dump it...lol

i ride quads. but do enjoy playing on a bike every now and then.

i am not much of a bike rider, but do not have much experience. i think i could get used to it, and actually thought about buying a bike.

My buddy rides only dirtbikes and when he gets on an ATV he presents me with a 3-4 seconds from each lap. This is why I decided to do both now!

i like bikes alot. but my friends and i sometime take out our wheelers (250x, 300ex, recon, recon, lakota) and we go mudding/creek riding. we all just like bikes alot more, but i deffinitly will get a R sometime.

I ride both. One thing that helped me out was putting a thumb throttle on my bike. Makes the transition much easier. :D

I tried my cousins dirt bike and couldnt get the twist and landed a jump then nailed a tree 4th gear pinned on an 85. ouch

I ride both... I have a 450r and a cr250 bike. I typically only ride my quad in the dunes and then I ride/race my bike on the track and desert. You will also realize that you won't have to dump a ton of money into a bike to be competitive. On a quad you have to change everything... =\ Hence, why mine is stock other than basic mods: pipe/jetting/filter bla bla bla, but you don't really need great suspension for dune riding. :) Have fun, good luck.

Growing up I had a quad and my bro had a honda crf125. We'd always switch out and take turns riding. I miss having a bike and have been dying to find a good used one to ride! :p

I have been racing both quads and bikes since I was about 3 or 4 I believe. I do a lot better on my quad than my bike but yet I hardly ever ride my quad. I am lucky to ride it once a week and still get top 20 overall every weekend. I ride my bike about 3 times a week. I think riding the bike helps keep you in shape and I think it is also to fun to get on and ride. More often than not I will ride my bike for an hour or so then come over, jump on my quad and ride it for an hour or so. I also race my quad and bike back to back in a xc or mx race. I mainly focus on my quad when I race. It is a good time to have the bike now because I can race my bike while the quad is broke. I like both about equally although I prefer the quad in the woods and the bike on the mx track.

What throttle did you use?I broke my right wrist and it didn't heal right so twist is ucomfortable for me.

It is a Honda 400ex thumber. Im not really sure what year though. I believe the 300 and 400ex use the same one. I could be wrong on that though.

so lets see. did she mean crf100? or crf150. either way, she'd have 2 #'s that are incorrect. and they aren't that close where she'd hit them by accident. she obviously didnt know what she was talkign about, and its not a typo
