I heard that there was HRC cam that was like a modified version of the xr400 cam and i was wondering if anyone had it in there 400? Also is it a lot different than the xr400 stock cam or is aboutthe same? I am looking into a new cam maybe a wiseco 440 kit. is it a good all around cam that is a little more radical?thankx for the feedback. :devil

The HRC cam is a Honda designed race cam for the xr400/ex engine. It gives up some (but not much) power in the bottom & gives you more in the mid & top. From what I have heard, it is a good cam. They are a little pricey though, but you can buy a copy of it from xrsonly.com, and it is much cheaper.

How does it compared to a hot camstage two.

Here's the specs: lift (intake/exhaust) duration @.050"

Hot cam II .346 .338 254 254
HRC .350 .339 254 256

The HRC will have a little more on top & a little less on the bottom, but I don't think it would be noticeable without a dyno.

I have got the total HRC Kit from honda .. AND BOY IT DID MAKE A DIFFERENCE !

I should never buy an other cam for my honda . It realy wake's up the stock motor and combined with a high compression piston it go's even more ...

Just buy the HRC , you won't regret it

This was the kit for 700 €

Only the clutch springs are bull**** , order Barnett ones .

The HRC is a little bit more radical than the Xr400 but not as radical as thw Hot Cams Stage 2. THe HRC is basiclly a xr400 cam that has a few mods to it to make the top end a little bit nicer.

Xr400 HRC or Hot Cam2 are all great Choices.

Don;t you need Rockers and and Springs for Hot Cams Stage 2

So what cam would you guys say would up next from the HRC? Im still trying to stay with a drop in cam, I just want alot more mid and top than the XR cam I have already. Ive called Sparks, TC, Powroll and it starts to get confusing. There are really only a handful of manufactures out there who make cams. Alot of companys sell theyre names on them but they are just the same as other companys cam. Webcam, is one of those few companys who manufacture theyre own.
I talked to a guy from Sparks yesterday and what he told me was the XR cam was on a scale of 1 to 10, a 3, with theyre drop in cam rated about a 6. This being about as high as you can go with a drop in cam.
Now we have this HOTCAM on the market. So where do they rank compared to the other copycats out there. Like I said, its getting confusing.

I went from an XR400 cam to a WB's All around cam. The XR is a good choice of cam if you do alot of trail riding. I wasnt impressed with the XR cam cause most of my riding is out in the open. I felt the WBs cam has the same bottom end as the XR cam, but with much more mid to top end pull.:D

Did you not just read what vegas wrote? The HRC cam is not a reworked stock XR cam. It is wilder than the Hot cams stage 2 also. Don't post unless you know what you are talking about.

Rhandw, You have to think about that the Sparks cam is also going to cost you something like $250. Then when you add the price of springs and hardfaced rockers you are at $500.(If I am not mistaken they recommend going with hardfaced rockers even though they call it a drop in.)

I would call the HRC and the Hot cams stage 2 a level 4.5 of 10.
