hi. my front sprocket had a little bit of radial play, the inner teeth were worn, so i went out and bought a new one. put the new one on, the problem was nearly gone but when i put the little clip on that twists to lock the teeth, it has play, like if you were to pull a side of the sprocket away from the motor, it is able to be freely moved. I wanted to know if it is meant to do this, or is the locking clip bad. There are indentations on the teeth of the clip from where the teeth on the output shaft of the motor have dug into it, or so i think. it could come stock with the indentations. I was going to take a feeler gauge and cut a piece off and drill a hole so i could bolt that on behind the clip, to take up the gap. What should i do?

Mine does too, the front sprocket wiggles a bit. I think they made it that way to keep the chain from binding....no sure tho.

Don't sweat it, if your bolts are tight, it's ok.

Sorry, don't know, but mine doesn't have any play. I would check to see if the output shaft was worn. If it isn't, don't keep riding it this way. It will wear it down, then you will be replacing the shaft as well.

its normal.

the thing is i have gone through a sprocket and it hasent worn yet. i think that the output shaft is harder, so it doesn't wear. i might order a new clip, they aren't much money so i might as weell try it. thanks

I have found that same "free play" on mine also, but if this is normal what is wrong with the one guy's who said he didnt have any play?

sprocket play is normal, maybe the guy with out play has his chain too tight.

im still wondering though, cause mine has quite a bit, maybe more than usual. i don't see how putting the feeler gauge to reduce the play could hurt. i guess there is only one way to find out, i will keep a little though.

i was at the dealer today looking at the other 300ex's and they had the same amount as mine. i guess it is just a honda thing.
