polaris recomends there 5w-30 synthetic . i use 10w-50 golden spectro synthetic really any good brand of four stroke syntheic oil is good stay away from auto synthetics as they have friction inhibitor that will cause the clutch to slip.

rotella t synthetic would also work but it is an engine oil for diesel engines i use it in my fleet but would not use it in the 525 for the same reason i would not use the engine oil

KTMtalk.com has a lot of information about the KTM 525 engine and oil. A large percentage of them also run Rotella T synthetic. I run it in all my quads and have been running it in my 525 since its first oil change.

This is a must read article with some good info in it.

i have ran rotella and absolutely hate it. keep in mind that that oil is not rated for wet clutch apps. it breaks down FAST!!!!!!!!! it turn BLACK about 5 hours into an oil change.

How do you know it was broke down? The color of oil has absolutely nothing to do with rather it is doing its job or is broken down. The best way to determine the job oil is doing is to have an analysis done on it.

Here is an oil analysis of Rotella after being ran in a motorcycle and it also has Amsoil listed on the same bike for comparison.
Rotella synthetic oil analysis in a motorcycle (http://theoildrop.server101.com/forums/showflat.php?Cat=0&Number=755000&an=0&page=0#Post755000)

The Rotella even has less Molybdenum than the Amsoil did in the test and the iron content in the Rotella was substantially less. The only oil Rekluse clutches recommends by name is Rotella.

You really cannot go wrong in todays time as long as you buy a name brand quality oil and maintain the change interval the manufacturer recommends.

Pure Polaris now has a "PS-4 plus", just for the 525.
